haven't seen anything in the news about it lately. did

article posted just a few hours ago.

My last trip through the I-5 corridor in the central
valley still had all the Cocoran exits shut down (a town
very affected by this old/new lake).

Tulare lake seems to be finally disappearing, according
to this new article in the SF Chronicle.
