A beewick flew into a shed and was unnoticed until hours later when she was seen at the window. When I went in to let her out she was frightened and flew into the rafters to hide.
So I cheeped three times, with the thought "everything is fine -- just fly out the open door". She flew to the opposite rafter and I cheeped again, and again she flew to hide in a rafter. Third cheeps, she flew to the top of the door, turned as if to say thanks, and was free.
Now on those pleasant mornings and the door is open to let the fresh air in, a Beewick visits and in between songs will give a "cheep, cheep, cheep".
If only I could fly.

I call them wrens...so cute they are. I used to have them for years come and nest somewhere in a flower pot or hanging basket around the house. A couple of times they nested on the front porch. One day I did not realize the little ones were out of the nest and somehow when I opened the door I let one in without seeing it. When I opened the door to come back inside there it sat and flew further into the house but it was just learning to fly so it was easy to catch it gently I tossed a pillow case on it and scooped it up and put it back outside. They are the cutest lil birds.
