The following information was apparently just published. I am somewhat surprised to see that I posted this note about it before our host, Mr. Bopp.
Scientists appear to be presently trying to decide just how important this information is. But, it might turn out to be extremely important to our understanding of how life evolved on Earth.
Basic information like this regarding how life got started is discovered perhaps once in a generation. Site visitors might want to watch the news for the latest regarding this!
SO, WHAT HAPPENED?
Generally, scientists have always thought that when the Earth first formed, there was little oxygen in our atmosphere and in bodies of water such as the ocean.
They were of the opinion that oxygen became a major gas in the atmosphere and elsewhere mainly as the result of plants being hit by sunlight photons. The plants take in carbon dioxide, water, minerals, and photons, and release oxygen.
Scientists making measurements of oxygen levels deep in the ocean discovered that the levels were much higher than anyone expected.
Where was that oxygen coming from?
Researchers collected samples of metal nodules that are present on the sea floor in certain areas.
When they tested the nodules they discovered that there appeared to be a voltage present near their surface. Under the right conditions, that voltage was high enough to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen.
People have known how to do that for ages in the laboratory and in locations such as submarines, I understand. But, they were not expecting to see this happening at the bottom of the ocean where there is no sunlight or much of anything else.
So, exactly how much oxygen are these nodules generating?
That is a question that needs to be answered.
Where does that voltage or electric potential come from?
So far, I have not seen any information that discusses that.
It might be that the nodules are absorbing electromagnetic wave energy from the Earth's geomagnetic energy field etc.
Or, perhaps there is a temperature difference between the part of the nodule touching the ocean bottom and the part farthest from the ocean bottom. A temperature difference like that might be producing a thermocouple type of effect.
WATER EXISTS IN MORE THAN 3 STATES?
On another topic,
A video that I recently watched provides some evidence that water can exist in more forms than just steam, liquid water, and ice.
An additional water state or structure can be found near the surface of various solid materials that are present in the water.
Normally, water has the formula H2O.
This new form has the formula H3O2.
The missing hydrogen is still present in the water, but farther away from the surface of that material.
I doubt that they have started teaching that in Earth Science class. Education officials are still trying to convince people that there are only 8 major planets.
Pluto got kicked out of the dog house because astronomers discovered that there are so many other objects out there that are the same size as or even larger than Pluto that after all these years, poor Pluto had to be downgraded to a minor planet status.
These are personal opinions.
Regards to all,
