A new comparative test of the car picture shows that electric cars massively lose range in winter. In frosty temperatures, the range of four out of five test candidates dropped to under 70 kilometers, and that of the Renault Zoe to under 60 kilometers.

++++++

That battery efficiency declines in cold weather has been known for decades so to us engineers this is not new info.

How does a electric only car produce heat for comfort? Electric heat would
only put more strain on the battery.

That also contributes to the shorter range off of batteries that are not able to deliver all they have due to the cold. Same on the other end for air conditioning and the batteries are hot so deliver less which is why all the fans to help cool the batteries.

We're not comfortable, the batteries are not also.

Best solution is Hydrogen as H2O is the source and H2O is the exhaust when the Hydrogen fuel cell makes power.

The H2 can be made with wind/solar by electrolysis but, it makes too much sense folks!

Speaking of batteries-- please see Disasters forum, latest info from CaptJ about those fires and may be one reason suspected are those electric car batteries on board.

horses are much better...they keep you warm and provide fertilizer for your garden...and much easier to take in the scenery...

In Montana some evil persons started killing horses. Couple years ago. In our town and others nearby. I tried to follow up on it but I don't think they ever caught the killers.

on the horse killings- And joined a group tracking this- this is serious! All over the US this is happening- with newspaper accts showing it. Around 100 horses were killed near my area at an Native reservation-that was back in 2015. And during that time, several horses here in this town were shot and killed and or heads chopped off. If this keeps up- won't have any horses to ride/commute with when/if the grid goes down.

Thanks for info. Another so called sustainable/renewable/alternative energy bites the dust. But then again, the 'planners' are planning us to all move to large cities and do the bus/train/bike commute. But then again if the train/bus is run on electric, there you go with not so sustainable/practical/whatevera.
