Subject: Ginkgo biloba Impacts ADHD |

"A clinical trial published in May 2015 found that Ginkgo biloba is an effective adjunct treatment for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that approximately 11% of children have been diagnosed with ADHD. The rate of ADHD diagnosis is increasing, with an increase by 5% per year from 2003 to 2011.
In this randomized, placebo-controlled trial, children and adolescents with ADHD received 80-120 mg of Ginkgo biloba or placebo daily in addition to 20-30 mg per day methylphenidate for six weeks. The ADHD Rating Scale-IV was completed by parents and teachers at the beginning of the study and again after two and six weeks. A 27% improvement in the ADHD Rating Scale-IV was considered to be treatment response.
The Ginkgo biloba group experienced a larger reduction in ADHD Rating Scale-IV parent rating inattention score and total score compared to the placebo group. Additionally, the ginkgo group experienced a greater reduction in teacher rating inattention score. As measured by parent rating, treatment response was 93.5% in the Ginkgo biloba group compared to 58.6% in the placebo group.
The study authors concluded, "The G. biloba is an effective complementary treatment for ADHD. Further studies with longer treatment duration are warranted in this regard."

Ginkgo is a blood thinner, I wonder how much of that is it that is having an impact on ADHD
So much of our health (physical and mental) is determined by the health of our intestinal tract/flora. So be sure and take your probiotics and prebiotics
