The flow of science in this modern age is largely controlled by just six corporate publishing groups, which by calculated design have been gobbling up the journal market since at least the 1970s. And a new study out of Canada reveals that this mass consolidation of publishing power is, to a large extent, skewing what passes as scientific progress.

Hi Trapper,
Open Access has been on the list of things to accomplish in Europe for quite some time, but so far it's not happening and thus much that is written is not read nor used to it's greatest potential as it's too expensive for universities and others to pay fees for publications.
Though it's been interesting of late how much has been shared in regard to the future of Cascadia from many sources and I hope those who can will take some time to become better informed across the board.
Yet, in regard to medicine we do have a vast storehouse of information that's readily available on the Net on almost every topic and yet I don't think the majority of folks make good use of it.
Nonetheless, we find folks trying to control just about everything and especially if there's a buck to be had.
