...as is the rest of mainstream media. This topic should be on the front page, EVERY DAY, instead, it’s tucked into the “Americas” section. Thank you so much, New York Times.

Hi Akira,
> This topic should be on the front > page, EVERY DAY, instead, it’s tucked into the “Americas” section.
Well to be fair polls show people don't rank the subject very high. For example:
UN Survey: Climate Change Least of Worries for Earth's Residents
And I think there are a couple of reasons for this. First many promoted climate alarmism and reality hasn't kept up with those alarmist predictions. That doesn't mean it isn't happening but people get burned out on hearing about doom that never happens. (apart from conspiracy theory doomers of course)
Second, people who do follow these UN climate conferences have seen the same scenario play out every year for the past 15 years. 10-15 thousand people gather for a UN Climate Conference in some exotic location, they end up stuck at the same spot with some countries demanding a payday while others refuse to accept any type of commitments.
Meanwhile coal fired powerplants are rapidly being built all over the world with no viable clean energy source capable of replacing them.
Climate change is a very important subject but with all these factors it's hard to sustain people's interest.
Cheers
Jim

No kidding, neither does mainstream media. Golly, maybe there's a connection.

Hi Akira,
> No kidding, neither does mainstream media. Golly, maybe there's a connection.
I doubt it...I've followed the subject of global warming for 12 years and it was previously a hot topic in the media. Al Gore put out a movie on global warming. And still public interest has waned... not just in our country but all over the world.
But there isn't a lot for the media to report. Global temperature hasn't risen for 15-17 years and there are many possible reasons being suggested but nothing concrete. There is nothing on the table that will actually replace fossil fuels so nothing solid on the mitigation front.
Prior to the yearly climate conference they put out a few scary stories and then report on the conference.
And personally I'm not sure I want the media to shape opinion, they should simply report on events. Sure... that's a bit idealistic and most of the media has a political slant these days but I don't think the media should be shaping public opinion.
Cheers
Jim

Why aren't you posting climate change articles on this website every day? How many readers do you think would be interested in buying a newspaper that had the same or similar article on it's front page every day?
