That is a drifting of Earth’s solid exterior – an actual change in latitude for some land masses – relative to our planet’s rotation axis. These scientists used hotspots in Earth’s mantle as part of a computer model, which they say is accurate for the past 120 million years, to identify four possible instances of true polar wander in the past. | now that "true polar wander" ... the slow latitudinal shifting of the continental plates without any outside agent ... has been confirmed by scientific data ... unsubstantiated claims to the contrary ... proof of the the phenomena gives creedence to the "cataclysmic pole shift hypothesis" by means of some outside agent ... the likeliest being the close approach of an extra-terrestrial body |

Hi HG, Actually it's the opposite. The scientists in this study measured the movements over millions of years showing there was no rapid movement in the past few thousand years. One of the long existing pieces of evidence that shows the Velikovsky's pole shifts didn't exist is the hotspots on Earth such as Hawaii and Iceland. You can't take real science and just because the proposed scientific theories sound vaguely like Velikovsky's pole shift assume that it supports Velikovsky. It doesn't. Cheers Jim |

Hi HG, Very interesting theories. And in reading about their evidence it must have dawned on you that all these measurements suggesting that Earth’s solid outer layers have been slowly rotating at a rate of 0.2 degrees every million years is more evidence that Velikovsky's pole shifts in the past few thousand years didn't happen.
