Subject: checking them rocks if they are meteorites

after getting the info here re using magnets I've been testing these numerous rocks that I've picked up in the wilderness and voila ...

some are SO magnetic it's almost hilarious.....
I have a very particular rock that I picked up in a river, -I was wading in a gorgeous river, the water was very clear and see thru, -a rock caught my attention and I picked it up....

it's a perfect , symmetrical pyramid, all the sides are the very exact same measurements....
when I found it my intuition said this is from Mars, -how strange ....

and as I did the magnet test this pyramid is very magnetic....I have other rocks from the wilderness that tested very magnetic as well..

in Jan I'll plan to see an expert and to determine what these rocks are and where the origin might be ??
should be very interesting....

it's quite fascinating cuz I've always had a thing for them rocks, -so many rocks so little time lol...

though serpetine found in marin is unusually magnetic...I was very surprised to see it....

I was trying to figure from your description what kind of rock you found, and in particular, whether the image of the lodestone pyramid on that link resembled the pyramid you described. There are only a few rocks that are strongly magnetic, and with a fuller description, it might be possible to determine what your rock is made out of without actually seeing it.

this pyramid rock that I picked out the river is a perfectly symmetrical pyramid, -ie all the sides are
EXACTLY the same measurements.....

being magnetic it's also very heavy....

it's not lodestone for sure....
the thing that puzzles me is that it's too perfect to be a random rock....

and why oh why would I happen to look down just at that moment to see it....

hey you scientist boys, -what are the odds of that happening ???

much like when I first visited friend's place up in mt shasta, -the grounds were still muddy and as I walked along the river I looked down on the trail, -I thought I saw something sticking out from the mud, first I thought it was a piece of dark green plastic

I looked closer and pulled out a perfect arrowhead....
so what again are the odds that I happen to glance down at that very moment ???

I think the odds are astronomical ....

If the rock you found is shaped into a perfect pyramid, then it is likely to be composed of only one mineral. A mineral's shape is determined by it's crystalline structure, and that's the only way to get a perfect pyramid. It must be a hard mineral, or it probably would not have retained a perfect pyramidal shape very long in a river. What color is it? If it's gold colored, then it's likely to be iron pyrite, or fools gold, but if so, I suspect you would have noted that already.

"You know, the most amazing thing happened to me tonight. I was coming here, on the way to the lecture, and I came in through the parking lot. And you won't believe what happened. I saw a car with the license plate ARW 357. Can you imagine? Of all the millions of license plates in the state, what was the chance that I would see that particular one tonight? Amazing!" - Richard P. Feynman

Can you take a picture of the rock and post it? Sounds interesting.

Brian

not a chance I'd post a pic of this pyramid online, -I'm so NOT into posting any pics online.....

this pyramid is very special and along the line I'll figure out what is it/where it came from.....

until then it's firmly planted under my pillow as I dream....

Is this similar to your rock? Guesses on what it is are listed below the image. I think the guy who suggested an Indian connection is probably correct. It could have been laced into a hammer, or it might have been used for softening skins, grinding, or something like that.
