URL: Bill Nye: Debate Over Evolution In Texas Schools Is Jeopardizing Our Future

While this articles focus is on what to teach in Texas schools regarding science it seems more like "it's all about the money."

"It's an outrageous notion," Nye continued. "It's not a benign idea. It's inane or silly. These students will not accept the process of science, which will stifle or suppress innovation."

Suppression of innovation seems unlikely because it happens at the top level of science institutions rather than lower level education.

wow.....I had no idea the 'bible belt' was still stuck in that paradigm....sure gives you no hope that the schools will produce any future anthropologists, and other scientists that 'search' our ancient history/origins/earth science.I find it all fascinating....watch a voyager show last night that was so interesting...a civilization what were reptilian like and had evolved into a very advance species but one of them thought they had some dna in common with humans and that they might have come from the same place that we did....but when he tried to prove it, he was condemned (kind of like what happens here when scientists try to put forth 'new' theories) for heresy, because it went against their 'teachings' which they had developed after they left the planet into a belief system....
I smiled at the 'message'.....since I always 'wonder' if it isn't true, that we were 'seeded' or 'experimented on' that led us to where we are today...:-)
