Subject: Microplastics and heating water in plastic - Mar. 22, 2024

The following should show the benefit of having this forum available versus having only published reports.

Information can be added to a forum. People can compare information with one another.

MICROPLASTICS AND HEATING WATER IN PLASTIC CONTAINERS

Published reports have stated that if you heat water in a plastic container such as a cup in order to make coffee or tea, microplastics will enter the water.

Since that report on removing microplastics by boiling it did not discuss the effects of heating water in plastic containers it would be impossible to determine how the amount of plastic that you find in tap water or bottled water compares with the amount added if you heat the water in a plastic container.

That heating in plastic problem suggests that if you heat it in plastic the amount of microplastics added could possibly exceed the amount removed by just boiling and filtering the water.

I don't personally plan to start heating and filtering water to get rid of the microplastics. But I have switched to heating water and food in ceramic or glass containers and cups rather than plastic ones.

So, someone pays attention to these published information reports.

These are personal opinions.

Regards to all,

EQF
