lately as I look at my weather map. I view this daily as well as the earthquakes maps. I use this to watch for severe weather as they label MEZO (aerial spin) and TVS (tornado vortex seen).
it has come to my attention for years I have seen where 90+% of the US has no rain. maybe a area gets a 2" rain from a small thunderstorm cell but the counties around it get sprinkles if lucky. last week there was a high pressure from the Rockies to the East coast.
what I think is going on is. in the recent past burning coal, oil gasoline and before that wood. has put so much extra gasses into the atmosphere it is creating extra pressure on the earth it is not allowing the evaporation of ocean waters to fuel the necessary rains for our farmers. the weather channel was showing so many cities East of the Rockies that had no measured rains for October so far. it was shocking! as the population grows were will we source our foods without these rains?

It concerns us all, and is worse than we could predict.

on the map 400 is 40,000 feet high thunderstorm and usually the arrow is direction and speed at the tip of arrow.
it gives the kind of information a pilot needs. clicking on map goes to a closer shot of the area. I have seen storms as high as 77 thousand feet high. below give the explanation of MEZO and TVS Hail too.
your NWS storm spotter, me.
