Hi, how are you? I was hoping you would chime in but with more detail...However it seems like this site for the toxic ash dump from the Lahaina fire does draw some concerns from others. Though I guess with what all is toxic these days which is a lot, it's just the way it is.

It's a quagmire for sure. But for Lahaina to get on with its recovery the ash has to go away. The location selected is close, is vacant, and is temporary, and being overseen by the EPA. But it allows the gov to get the ash out of the way and then from there stage its removal to a more permanent site.
Some want it to be stuffed into containers and sent far away... without any idea where or how it would be disposed once it leaves here. They just don't want it. But it is here, it is our’s, and it costs a bunch to deal with no matter. But to think taking your problems and stuffing them in metal boxes and forgetting about them once they go beyond the horizon is just silly.
So, the land fill, which is temporary, is a good first step. It helps the people of Lahaina start getting back to their lives. But then, folks on YouTube, you know the kine, losers that have nothing but their ‘channels’ and a mouth full of complaints, they think this is cause for them to go off as if they know something..
Now, if all the complainers would offer solutions it might be different.. but they only complain..
The interesting thing is this is all new here. It used to be something burnt down and the ash was an afterthought. You know, something that got in all the cracks, that got under the cloth, that washed away. But nothing to get up about. Then, after the Paradise fire in California, it became a much bigger concern. But in California they have a state agency set up to seal with toxic waste. Here in Hawaii it’s a new idea. So yeah, what to do with all the toxic ash? Whatever the answer, it ain't like some idiot on his/her soapbox (YouTube) is in anyway helping solve the problem. In fact, they’re probably contributing to it every time they flush..
In Hawaii we have toxic waste covering massive amounts of land. Our sugar industry, which has finally closed up shop a few years ago, covered miles and miles of the islands in toxic crap. They spread arsenic, to kill rats, over most of the land for years, decades, thinking it was benign. And, besides the obvious, most human waste (on the outer islands) goes into cesspools.. ie open pits with covers.. and leaches into our water table, and out into the ocean.. everywhere. If the tourists knew what they were swimming in..
And the guy on YouTube thinks he’s on to something..
