I grew up knowing it as barefooting was great growing up in the summer in the rural mountains barefoot all the time in the summer (in winter wore shoes)...but then where I am now walking barefoot on the ground can be toxic with all the pesticides and herbicide residue in the overly manicured grass and whatever chems from the sky fall on it or the pavement. Also the lawns are watered with reclaimed water which I call pee pee water...barefoot that? no thanks. |

Yeah, much of my childhood, barefoot in the mountains but then we also had to wear shoes where scorpions, red ants, rattle snakes and stinging nettles were! I liked it best at the various beach places I lived, the best grounding ever! And yet now so many beach sand is polluted with drug paraphernalia, condoms, needles, sewage runoff and whatever else it be. Just recent found out the toxic waste placed in drums offshore in HB where I spent some of my teen years, been leaking for years. In a perfect world... but its not. |

Yeah...today must tiptoe around the toxins...I miss those childhood days of running barefoot and fancy free in the grass and making dandelion necklaces, stepping on the stones in the creek nearby looking for turtles and crawdads...remembering feeling united with the goodness of the earthy elements. And fresh mountain air...miss it so. The most I had to watch out for where I grew up was stepping on bees...never had any other biting types of critters at least not enough to be concerned about in almost heaven Blue Ridge Mountains summer time was the best. Honeysuckle memories so thankful for them...yet it's not so much now the way it was then remote is not so remote anymore and what we used to call no mans land is no longer it's now glampers land. |
