An Edinburgh-based research team fears plankton, the tiny organisms that sustain life in our seas, has all but been wiped out after spending two years collecting water samples from the Atlantic.
The landmark research blames chemical pollution from plastics, farm fertilisers and pharmaceuticals in the water. Previously, it was thought the amount of plankton had halved since the 1940s, but the evidence gathered by the Scots suggest 90% has now vanished.
The scientists warn there are only a few years left before the consequences become catastrophically clear when fish, whales and dolphins become extinct, with grave implications for the planet. In the report, the researchers from the Global Oceanic Environmental Survey Foundation (Goes) state: “An environmental catastrophe is unfolding. We believe humanity could adapt to global warming and extreme weather changes. It is our view that humanity will not survive the extinction of most marine plants and animals.”

Nothing will change without leaders of states and industry showing a serious commitment to changing course. Clearly the will just isn't there. There are no excuses. Shame on them all.

You see what happens when politicians step out and try. They are crushed and spit out.
Giving up red meat helps, a small start.

I have been sharing such for some time here on and off, sometimes more, sometimes less but I mostly don't much anymore as it's not doable for most or an option is the feedback I receive. Seems to me it's easier for most to believe the politicians will bring environmental salvation or they don't think it's necessary and the new world order wants them to give up red meat thus enslave them... reasoning goes something like it's better to be addicted to red meat and increase clogged arteries and make more toxins for the planet or their uncle monkey ancestors ate it so it's inherited through them thus necessary...or they might say something like I only eat grass fed enslaved free range beings, etc. the list of responses is endless as well as borderline comedy/tragedy. The encouraging thing to me is you are sharing the same and there is one other here I know of who has shared they are doing the same.

I was hoping you'd see this and be encouraged the message has been refreshed with new studies.
Perhaps the survivors of this culture will remember and know that there are options to predatory violence, and that not all people that preceded them were less than the animals some killed with such glee.

It's not that we don't care. I'm stunned and feel helpless, have been watching this with concern since I was 10 years old and saw my first trash barge on its way out the Golden Gate. When I said it would poison the water, my dad replied, "It's a big ocean". I did the math in my head and figured it wasn't big enough for the populations to come.
The oil and gas industry are stopping votes and activity that may lead to even a modicum of change. There's a litany of negative statements like that one, and I know people who believe the aliens are coming to fix the ocean pollution in minutes. W. R. Grace believed Jesus was coming and would make a new earth, there are more of those, and now they appear to sit on the Supreme Court. Pretty pictures from deep space haven't encouraged people to give up candy-like soaps to throw in the wash.
There must be something beyond shock and screaming.

..and that's sort of where I am with it, too.
I feel like Charton Heston on the beach yelling at the statue of liberty buried in the sand.
