Climate change hoax collapses as Michael Mann’s bogus
“hockey stick” graph defamation lawsuit dismissed by
the Supreme Court of British Columbia
For the past two decades, much of the hysteria about
global warming — later re-labeled “climate change” —
has been based on the so-called “hockey stick” graph
produced by Michael Mann. The graph, shown below, has
been used by the IPCC, the media and governments to
push global warming hysteria to the point of mass
mental illness, where Democrat presidential
candidates claim humanity only has 12 years remaining
before a climate apocalypse will somehow destroy the
planet.
But the hockey stick graph is a fraud. A man-made
computer software algorithm generated it, and the
algorithm is rigged to produce a hockey stick shape
no matter what data were entered. Like everything
else found in the rigged world of “climate science,”
the hockey stick graph was a fraud the day it was
generated.
Michael Mann didn’t like being called a fraud by his
critics, so he sued them for defamation. And late
last week, one of those lawsuits was concluded by the
Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada, which
threw out Mann’s lawsuit against Dr. Tim Ball. But
there’s more. According to Principia-Scientific:
Not only did the court grant Ball’s application for
dismissal of the nine-year, multi-million dollar
lawsuit, it also took the additional step of awarding
full legal costs to Ball. A detailed public statement
from the world-renowned skeptical climatologist is
expected in due course.

and may prove fatal to climate science claims that

Michael Mann refuses to turn over the data behind the
graph, insisting on secrecy instead of transparency
This court decision reportedly stemmed from the fact
that Michael Mann refused to turn over “R2 regression
numbers” to the court, which would have revealed the
data manipulations that led to the rigging of the
hockey stick graph. This unwillingness to disclose
the graph algorithm and data points reveals the total
lack of transparency and scientific integrity that
has plagued Mann’s supposed “science” work for
decades. As American Thinker explains:
Real science, not the phony “consensus” version,
requires open access to data, so that skeptics (who
play a key role in science) can see if results are
reproducible.

Mann’s now proven contempt of court means Ball is
entitled to have the court serve upon Mann the
fullest punishment. Contempt sanctions could
reasonably include the judge ruling that Dr. Ball’s
statement that Mann “belongs in the state pen, not
Penn. State’ is a precise and true statement of fact.
This is because under Canada’s unique ‘Truth
Defense’, Mann is now proven to have wilfully hidden
his data, so the court may rule he hid it because it
is fake. As such, the court must then dismiss Mann’s
entire libel suit with costs awarded to Ball and his
team.
The spectacular rise and fall of climate alarmism’s
former golden boy is a courtroom battle with even
more ramifications than the infamous Scopes Monkey
Trial of 1925. To much fanfare at the time, Mann had
sued Ball for daring to publish the damning comment
that Mann “belongs in the state pen, not Penn.
State.” Dr Ball brilliantly backed up his exposure of
the elaborate international money-making global
warming scam in his astonishing book, ‘The Deliberate
Corruption of Climate Science‘.
In his books, articles, radio and television
appearances, Dr. Ball has been resolute in his
generation-long war against those who corrupted the
field of science to which he had selflessly dedicated
his life. Now aged 79, Ball is on the cusp of utter
vindication. Despite the stresses and strains on
himself and his family, Tim has stood at the
forefront of those scientists demanding more openness
and transparency from government-funded researchers.
“Climate science community in crisis”
Technocracy.news goes on to explain the ultimate
ramifications of this court decision:
A bitter and embarrassing defeat for the self-styled
‘Nobel Prize winner’ who acted as if he was the
epitome of virtue, this outcome shames not only
Michael Mann, but puts the climate science community
in crisis. Many hundreds of peer-reviewed papers cite
Mann’s work, which is now effectively junked. Despite
having deep-pocketed backers willing and able to feed
his ego as a publicity-seeking mouthpiece against
skeptics, Mann’s credibility as a champion of
environmentalism is in tatters. But it gets worse for
the litigious Penn State professor. Close behind Dr
Ball is celebrated writer Mark Steyn. Steyn also
defends himself against another one of Mann’s SLAPP
suits – this time in Washington DC. Steyn boldly
claims Mann “has perverted the norms of science on an
industrial scale.” Esteemed American climate
scientist, Dr Judith Curry, has submitted to the
court an Amicus Curiae legal brief exposing Mann. The
world can now see that his six-year legal gambit to
silence his most effective critics and chill
scientific debate has spectacularly backfired.
Principia-Scientific.org also says a “criminal
investigation” of Mann is now likely in the United
States over allegations that Mann committed
scientific fraud in faking his hockey stick chart:

Mann commits contempt of court in the ‘climate
science trial of the century.’ Prominent alarmist
shockingly defies judge and refuses to surrender data
for open court examination. Only possible outcome:
Mann’s humiliation, defeat and likely criminal
investigation in the U.S.
The defendant in the libel trial, the 79-year-old
Canadian climatologist, Dr Tim Ball (above, right) is
expected to instruct his British Columbia attorneys
to trigger mandatory punitive court sanctions,
including a ruling that Mann did act with criminal
intent when using public funds to commit climate data
fraud. Mann’s imminent defeat is set to send shock
waves worldwide within the climate science community
as the outcome will be both a legal and scientific
vindication of U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims
that climate scare stories are a “hoax.”
As can be seen from the graphs below; Mann’s cherry-
picked version of science makes the Medieval Warm
Period (MWP) disappear and shows a pronounced upward
‘tick’ in the late 20th century (the blade of his
‘hockey stick’). But below that, Ball’s graph, using
more reliable and widely available public data, shows
a much warmer MWP, with temperatures hotter than
today, and showing current temperatures well within
natural variation.
The perpetrator of the biggest criminal “assault on
science” has now become clear: Dr Mann, utterly
damned by his contempt of the court order to show his
dodgy data.
There can be little doubt that upon the BC Supreme
Court ruling that Mann did commit data fraud, over in
Washington DC, the EPA’s Scott Pruitt will feel
intense pressure from skeptics to initiate a full
investigation into Mann, his university and all those
conspiring to perpetuate a trillion-dollar carbon
tax-raising sting on taxpayers.

If you’ve been cruising the denial highway over the past week or so, you may have come to believe that Dr. Michael Mann has lost his defamation lawsuit--the British Columbia court ruled in favor of Canadian Tim Ball and forced Mann to pay Ball’s court costs. Deniers are also claiming that the hockey stick graph, which Mann supposedly refused to release the data for, has now been broken and ruled a fraud.
A particularly robust and...creative description of the case can be found at Principia Scientifica, a place for deniers who don’t even think carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. There, John O’Sullivan gives his unique take on the situation, to which he may feel entitled given his involvement.
O’Sullivan isn’t an actual lawyer, but he did file an affidavit on Ball’s behalf, in which he apparently dramatically inflated his legal credentials. And O’Sullivan does have some experiencing winning cases. Per DeSmog’s Richard Littlemore, O’Sullivan won “an acquittal when he was personally charged in England as a high school teacher accused of sending lewd text messages and assaulting a 16-year-old female.”
Despite the victory laps from O’Sullivan and the rest, the judge didn’t rule in favor of Ball in the Mann case. Rather, the court dismissed the case on the basis that it has dragged on and been delayed for so long. Ball requested a ruling based on the timing instead of merits to allow the court avoid the messiness of whether or not his attacks on Mann’s climate science were valid. Now Mann (and his lawyers) have a month to decide if they’d like to appeal.
In a statement responding to the wave of false coverage, Mann clarified that the “Court did not find that any of Ball’s defenses were valid. The Court did not find that any of my claims were *not* valid… The provision in the Court’s order relating to costs does NOT mean that I will pay Ball’s legal fees… In making his application based on delay, Ball effectively told the world he did not want a verdict on the real issues in the lawsuit.”
In reality, the court tossed the case in what appears to be an act of pity for Tim Ball. As a statement from Mann’s lawyer explained, Ball’s request to terminate the lawsuit “relied heavily on his alleged state of health” and because, per Ball’s defense team, his claims are “given no credibility by the average, reasonable reader.” (An assessment bolstered by the fact that in a similar suit, a judge ruled that “a reasonably thoughtful and informed person… is unlikely to place any stock in Dr. Ball’s views.”)
What this all means: no, the court didn’t rule that Mann’s hockey stick was a fraud. And no, it has nothing to do with Mann supposedly refusing to release the data for deniers to double check. Again, Mann took to Twitter to explain that “The ‘Hockey Stick’ data & code are all available & have been for more than a decade,” with a link to the FTP site that’s hosted the data since, by the looks of it, at least 2003.
And for whether or not the hockey stick, showing a rapid increase in temperatures in the modern era, has broken, Mann points out that multiple other teams have come to the same general conclusion.
Far from being a clear win for the deniers, the ruling appears to be more a judgement of the state of Tim Ball: a broken down old man, who’s lucky that no one takes his conspiratorial and accusatory ramblings seriously.
And that’s what his own defense said about him!

that was a ruling from 2016, a different court case. Junkscience.org is just another denier blog and the Competitive Enterprise Institute is a think tank funded by Big Oil, lots of proof of that in the internet jungle.
Most if not all climate change scientists have been the target for years from these right wing think tanks whose attacks have nearly always been debunked by the actual science itself.

about tens years ago you still seemed to approach other people's
comments with a certain openness, in a sort of reclined grandess as
it sometimes occurs in expert chairs.
Today all that seems to be gone, replaced by an attitude of a mental
fortress like they had in medieval times.
Just because don't like some statements on naturalnews does not
give you the right to denounce the whole site and any and all
contributions.
More and more you sound like an inquisitor who does not even look
at the facts or data or opinions or comments. Your "reasoning":
anything coming from naturalnews equals junk because you say so.
That attitude is highly unscientific and certainly does not reflect your
teachers intentions.
Has the rattlesnake population around Tehachapi grown to
proportions which are affecting your mental capacity?
Is your aggressive behavior an indicator for large quakes preparing

my discernment is pretty good. When Mike Adams
decided to venture into politics rather than stick
with his forte, he started becoming prey to a lot of
bad sourcing himself. His site because home to places
where russian troll farms knew they could send
stories --vetted or not, and get them published.Not
only real russian troll stories (as well as other
foreign entities), but political propaganda. because
he doesn't require a vetting process, it attracts
those who are attempting to manipulate with false
facts, half facts or bad facts without being held
accountable.
The articles here are not banned, but readers should
be warned not to take articles from certain cites at
face value--and if they are interested in that topic,
cross check it with other articles from sites that do
have journalistic standards, or fact check the
information themselves.
The flooding of the internet makes sites, like
natural news, safe harbors for others attempting to
pass on bad information without being held to any
standard or manipulating readers for political
purposes. Articles on sites like that, that give the
reader no assurance that the facts they published
aren't altered (or ommitted) to produce a faulty
outcome.
When you get a site like Natural News, who promotes
such articles on a constant level these days, people
who are not familiar with that source need to be
warned that they have a terrible track record for
veracity. For people like Logan (who bopp did ask to
stop the natural news flooding a while back), that
won't matter. For others --it may. It gives them the
opportunity to go fact check it themselves if they
are truly interested in getting to the truth of the
situation, rather than the propaganda or bad logic
conspiracy theory.
my opinion of natural news is not a stand alone.
while it may have once been a place for natural
health articles that were decent, it's turned into
something far different today. People who have been
on these boards for over a decade (and longer) have
also seen this shift, have experienced the bad
information from that site and it's reputation in the
world of journalism is about as bad as you can get
(so no, it's not just me).
Bopp has decided to allow free posting of most
articles...within his rights, but he also allows
critiquing of the sources. Evaluation of the sources
gives the readers more information to better make
their own opinions on matters. More information is
better than less. Sources matter.
If you have a story about aliens landing on the front
lawn of the white house, you're evaluation of that
story would change:
Natural News (better fact check that)
the Onion (oh, it's a joke)
Los Angeles Times (they don't report tin foil
stories, so this must be worth a read)
Sources matter.
Same with political stories.
I will continue to flag stories from sites who do not
adhere to journalistic verification standards and
ethics.With all the flooding of invented stories, or
altered stories by bad actors, every tool to discern
faulty from good stories is needed.

It's not a hoax and though worldly taxes may be used as a
weapon of an excuse to claim it's a hoax....the taxes most need to
be concerned about is not of that sort for the participation in the
destruction of the Earth but to the true tax man. Thing is folks
are paying taxes for all sorts of destruction....nukes, food fires,
ice melting (Greenland melt might be linked to the military nuclear
incident that happened there, etc.)
