More needs to be done - this just posted today Los Angeles County, one of the most populated counties in the US, has just voted to ban the use of Roundup. This is a major triumph worth celebrating. Details. How Roundup injuries human beings has been figured out by an MIT scientist: The body confuses it for glycine and Funny (or not so funny) thing: That’s what it was designed to do to plants, but the EPA never bothered to inquire if humans were at risk too.
Details: “Chemically, the active ingredient glyphosate (N-phosphonomethyl-glycine) is a derivative of glycine, the smallest amino acid found in proteins…..
Once absorbed by the plant, glyphosate binds to and blocks the activity of the enzyme enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) – which undermines the production of 5-enolpyruvyl-shikimate-3-phosphate (ESP)… ESP is a precursor for aromatic amino acids and, ultimately, hormones, vitamins and other essential plant metabolites…” What madman would think that something that destroys the production of hormones, vitamins and other essential metabolites in plants would be safe for humans?

Pesticides in general cause havoc on my health and cognitive state. Wish they'd ban it in our region. If anything, pesticide use in general here seems to be getting more extensive. Within about a week I won't be able to venture out without a mask, I've already seen the signs going up.

I was surprised and happy to hear this too. I am sorry too many of us and the birds/bees/animals and fish are harmed by pesticides we do not need in our environment. There is a better way but many/most do not pursue it.
