sounds like it's going to be a problem for the mountains with 4-7 inches of rain coming tomorrow.
Significant rain is expected to continue to impact Southwest California Friday night through Saturday night, and again Monday through Tuesday. The next storm will arrive Friday night through Saturday night. This storm Pacific system will have good southerly flow and a subtropical moisture tap, with the potential for heavier rain rates and higher storm totals. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches over the coast and valleys and up to 7 inches across the mountains and foothills, as well as significant snowfall at resort level. Snow levels will remain near 7000 feet through noon Saturday, and then will drop to near 5000 feet, and possibly lower. Strong south to southeast winds will gust between 40 to 60 mph. Monday through Tuesday there will be cooler conditions with periodic showers. Snow levels will be near 4000 feet during this time, with potential for snow and winter driving conditions on mountain passes. Some of the possible impacts are mud and debris flow concerns near recent burn areas and mud and rockslides in non-burn in or below steep terrain, along with roadway flooding. Winter weather driving is likely above 4000 feet Monday through Tuesday.

Hi Sheila,
Thanks for all the rain projections! Yeah, I am not looking forward to that at all! Don't do rain, too many crazy speed demons driving out there. Spent today taking care of errands so I don't have to go out for a few days.
Some of those forecasted numbers...up to an inch per hour? Whoa! Not good for the hillsides, even those not burned! The canyons also have the issue of boulders coming loose and falling on the roads, blocking access in or out. Topanga Canyon gets it pretty hard with so much rain. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not so bad.

I saw that big blob on the doppler advancing towards you. I used to live in LA. Don't think I've ever seen a huge downpour there. Traffic must be a nightmare! Flooding?

For a while I was parked in the middle of a 'lake'. LOL in a grocery store parking lot. Couldn't get out or else get drenched! Funny, it went from torrential downpour to completely stopped, instantly! Now the WIND!! Aargh!
Haven't checked on hillside status yet. Hope it's over, at least the heavy stuff. Oh yeah, we had some long, loud thunderboomers, too, before the downpour...THAT was a treat! Seemed to be right over (and under) me!! LOL
Traffic is pretty light where I am, but I can't say the same for the usual jam-up locations, mostly due to 'road work' wrecking the streets!
