WEBER 09 October, 2018 - It's statistically possible to make enough changes to stave it off, but politically it looks unlikely if attitudes at the top do not change. - We're already seeing effects from a 1-degree (C) change. What can we do? There are a few things... - The problem, as I see it, is that there isn't the political will to make the serious changes we need to in order to stave this off. Stave what off, you ask? It's the point—an increase of 1.5 degrees C or 2.7 degrees F—at which the things that we take for granted, like arctic ice and even the ability to live anywhere near the equator, disappear. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) just issued a report on this that is, well, terrifying. The report is written by 91 authors and 40 review editors, and it features 133 contributing authors, 6,000 scientific references, and was subject to over 42,000 expert and government review comments before publication. We're two-thirds of the way there now, and in 12 years, that is the tipping point at which we cannot affect anything anymore. In other words, that's when it goes beyond a 1.5 degree increase in global average temperatures and the "feedback loop" that is the Earth will deteriorate to a point where we will have no way to stop the process. In fact, with the course we are currently on, it's going to be double that temperature; we've already seen an increase of 1 degree since pre-industrialization, and there's really nothing slowing it down. "The window on keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees C is closing rapidly and the current emissions pledges made by signatories to the Paris Agreement do not add up to us achieving that goal," stated Andrew King, a climate science expert at the University of Melbourne. The last time I researched this, 2050 was the year that they pegged. Moving that up by 20 years— effectively, the same as moving the atomic scientists' Doomsday Clock ahead by two minutes—makes it seem all that more pressing. But given the political climate of the world right now, it looks extremely unlikely that we'll do anything about it. So is it time to invest in beachfront property in Antarctica? Since 99% of us can't do that, here are some ideas on what you can do, from the UN report. The report says there must be rapid and significant changes in four big global systems: Energy, land use, cities, and industry. But it adds that the world cannot meet its target without changes by individuals, urging people to: 1. Buy less meat, milk, cheese and butter ~(or none)~ and more locally sourced, seasonal food— and throw less of it away... 2. Drive electric cars, but walk or cycle short distances 3. Take trains and buses instead of planes 4. Use videoconferencing instead of business travel 5. Use a washing line instead of a tumble dryer 6. Thoroughly insulate homes 7. Hi Eve, La Man, Sheila, I value everyone's comment but I disagree with some of Eve's and Sheila's conclusions. The "warming climate alarmists" seem to successfully operate in a "create fear ---> harvest research funding ---> create more fear --- > harvest forced CO2 taxes" etc etc etc. Climate models which do not take into account radiative effects from the sun, our main astrophysical life force and supplier of light and warmth, are nothing but utterly bad(istic) science and: worthless. La Man'ś comment that climate models fail to include solar effects is quite valid in my opinion. And he should not be yelled at for expressing a well-substantiated criticism. Eve's comment (simplified here) that humans are destroying their planet by way of pollution, excessive consumption and/or complete destruction of natural resources, garbage of all sorts, is equally valid. However, the destructive environmental behavior of many earthlings (who pray to money, power and societal status much more than to their creator or nature) does not require climate warming as a prerequisite nor does the bad behavior of earthlings automatically lead to an overall warming of our planet. The climate models also fail to include variations of the earth's orbit neither with respect to the sun nor with respect to the planets or the moon. I would like to point out that a discussion on (ideally and hopefully) verifiable data may provide some insight. Hi Eve, in the article you cite in your #1 post this is the headline: "On global warming, we have 12 years left until the point of no return" This is fear-mongering based on faulty assessments which I would not even call science because of highly prejudiced reasoning. Not necessarily your reasoning but you cited that article not me. I responded by bringing up the subject of solar minimum because we earthlings should better not completely ignore solar effects which, when taken into account, contradict the assertions (1) that runaway global warming is already taking place (2) and that it is caused by stupid humans and their even crazier pollution. If you wanted to talk about the plight of 45 billion animals which are "processed" in 2018 in a very non-biblical way to feed the burger hungry, 138 animals for every American, all this in a supposedly bible-conforming society then you should have chosen a different headline describing your thoughts. The plight of animals in America started a looooong time ago. It is nothing new. When Native Indians lived in the prairies so did huge herds of buffalo. They, both the Indians and the buffalo. were later slaughtered by bible-carrying Europeans to the point of extinction so that the money makers can implement their rule, install train tracks, roads, cities, TV, radio and cellphone towers, and airports, to the complete collapse of what used to be nature, a gigantic paradise from the Atlantic to the Pacific shore. Obviously, the entire world urgently needs another thought model, or if you prefer, another heart model. I keep trying to say I was there when it began. Believe it or not. I tell you truly that study is wrong in that there is less than 12 years and even may be this coming days given my incoming sensory and what I was told and have been shown by the good spirit. The day of the great accounting will come when all is given back what was sent out and times up forever for the serpent, his tricks and his den of thieves who hate my Heavenly Father and me, they just hate everything living basically. If one is all good with the Almighty why would they receive any so called fear mongering at all? Does not compute to me. I don't see it as fear mongering as I come from a different perspective as I walked out of the mindset of this world and am free. Besides that you and yours are not promised the next hour even or day, and so on. So at all times best to have it right with the Great Accountant cause you never know. And then there is also if you recall the story of the Great Flood and warning did go out and it went unheeded except by one. I was told it would be like the Days of Noah and I heard it and so it is. You just confirm that over and over as do others who refuse to hear. The thing I am most concerned about it my soul and the true day of justice....part of that includes the care I have given to others and the care of the Earth it's called being faithful in the least. How can anyone expect more if not faithful in the least? No one is caring about much and the ones that do and who are trying are so small though it's growing time is run out it can't be turned around what has happened... I share because it matters on a soul level at the Day of the Great Accounting. Then the cheeses have the enzymes of dead baby male calf's whom are taken away from their raped enslaved mothers at birth so the mothers can give milk to adults of another species who don't need it....So the cheese laments also. The glue, ugh the glue! It's awful. Gee wonder why the earth groans in us? I know why and science does not explain the spirit of that nor does it seek to it's why I don't respect it much. There is even milk in most potato chip brands. It's not necessary but for the ones who sell it to make a profit is all ...a profit by enslaving and exploiting animals. Sugar purchased is mostly filtered through bone char of animals slaughtered violently for to feed the masses...Only two brands I know of do not use animal bone char and that's what I purchase. Thus the "Halloween" candy given out to children for the "celebration" laments in spirit greatly so it's truly gory but this world perceives it as cute and fun for the most part. MAGA branded candy business it's not so great after all. Then there's toothpaste, skin care, on and on and on and on and on...it's insane. This world is wallowing smothered in dead animal secretions and dead animal skin and bones burning ...on the outside, on the inside. I have to endure it though I don't like it it affects me too so it's like the ones who don't want it or want to partake of the suffering are forced to anyway on a lot of levels, it's like walking against a tidal wave. Try it and you can empathize then. BTW I did not learn this I share by viewing Earthlings or any man made video but I studied it since I was woken in 2002 with revelations from heaven. With guidance by the good spirit I came to understand and find what I was seeking. I don't go out on the streets to share as I am so raw about it sometimes and the pain of killing which is happening hurts me to the core of my soul. Believe it or not the way I word it and how I share...it's mild by comparison to the great accounting day when I am to walk through the blood. zone please! I know I shared the contents of bottom line study but I said I never needed them...Look around and acknowledge your personal contribution is what it's about. Hold yourself accountable...it's a mass mindset in a box, step out of the box free your mind. You all are making it harder than it is trying to figure out what is the problem when maybe it's well ...you. I know it was me getting in my own way and following herd mentality. No longer. If you don't agree with the way I express myself then you don't I don't per se agree with the way others express themselves at times either. But I tell you this much I know in my heart I want more for you than you want for yourself's and on the soul level is what I am talking about. The problem is in the lack of understanding between us is no one responding is actually viewing at least one of the videos I have recommended. Earthlings is one of the best to show how this world depends on animal suffering for it's livelihood. For the love of God if no one can bring themselves to view this as I recommend then you are not going to understand from the point of view of common sense and wisdom...one must start at the bottom and begin to wake up, be open minded and realize you don't know everything and a bunch of book learning from scientists are not about love, compassion, concern for the welfare of the earth and earthlings per se. Hi Eve, you sound unusually aggressive to the point where I am starting to think that you are a different person from the one who has been open to fruitful discussion. In your original post you suggest that CO2 is forcing climate change and further, that this is caused by humans creating too much CO2 while ruining natural resources. I disagree with our assertions that a global warming scenario exists, that CO2 is the causative factor and that humans are bad because the create too much CO2. If I make a campfire or participate in one, for social reasons for example, does that make me a bad human because the carbon bound in wood is released as CO2 into the atmosphere? I agree with you that many human behaviorisms are extremely bad for the planetary living organism aka Earth, for example by generating excessive wasteful stinking exhaust fumes with their gasoline gobbling SUVs. No, I do not drive an SUV. And for nearly all of my everyday shopping, including common food stuffs such as potatoes, carrots, broccoli, nuts, I walk. And I even make an effort to not simply throw away heavy loads of food waste but to carry them to the forest in a backpack where I return the mineral rich material (without any plastic) back onto the soil where in no time flat it magically disappears. One reason could be that you are under the influence of and sensing upcoming very strong earth events. Good candidates for a big quake, but not the only ones, are near Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands, Haiti, Cayman, Ecuador, Chile. A few days ago you mentioned a headache. That also could be a sign of impending earth events. It also could be a sign of stupid humans "playing" with destructive electromagnetic technologies. As soon as, at least during part of their waking time, humans around the world begin cultivating small and big gardens together, in small villages and big cities, an endeavor which I think would have most spectacular social benefits, and start to grow their legumes and fruits in their backyards, the world would quickly become a much better place. They don't prove anything, they dump massaged data into a computer model, that's the proof. When applied to real time real world circumstances, the hypothesis falls apart. This is what happens when you accept IPCC at face value. Carbon dioxide has been renvisioned as some kind of poison gas that we need to mitigate before the planet is doomed. Balderdash. Carbon dioxide has nothing to do with global warming. In fact when they try to correlate CO2 to warming, simply removing the ENSO noise leaves us with zero warming at all. That's a real time real world calculation not some computerized model that doesn't even take solar radiation into account. 3. The ECS sensitivity serves as the link between artificial carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels and warming with the argument that these emissions cause atmospheric CO2 to rise and that rise in turn causes warming due to the GHG forcing of atmospheric CO2 concentration described by the ECS. However, the search for empirical evidence of the ECS in the observational data generated such a large range of values that the so called “uncertainty problem” placed this line of reasoning in doubt. The uncertainty problem and possible reasons for it are presented in a related post. [ECS: Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity ]. They cannot prove sensitivity, at least not in the IPCC models. And they keep reducing past temps to make future temps match the models predictions. What a fraud. 1930's were way hotter than now, so they simply move the goalposts farther ahead in time as a starting point, and every year make corrections to keep the sham moving.
