Sickly conifers in the Sierra Nevada are spewing carbon—contributing to climate change rather than
curbing it.

( Read this article in the Chico News & Review last Monday while killing time in Chico. I wanted to
share it with you, and found it online. I found it very interesting and informative. Jeff.)

The strategy remains hard to sell to the public. “It’s somewhat counterintuitive to say we need to
cut a bunch of these green, live trees to make the forest healthy,” Branham says. “It’s not the
easiest message to deliver to people who’ve grown up thinking more trees are better.” But there’s
been a shift in public perception since the King Fire, Ebgert says. Now residents regularly thank
them for their work; they understand that it benefits forest health, air quality and their own safety.

I've read for years that our firefighting management is
half of the problem, this article takes that to a whole
new level. Great read thanks.

Thanks Jeff, this is a lot of common sense that no longer is
‘common’.
Makes practical sense to me.
Remember when paper bags were out lawed to save trees, and
plastic came into the picture? Now we have come full circle, and
we’re back to paper AGAIN!
I personally have enough of my own reuesable bags that i take to
any kind of store now.
