No date on this link.

"The Doubs river flows normally in Franche-Comté, France. But since about a week or so, the river has totally dried up over a length of more than 1 km, between Pontarlier and Morteau, although precipitation has been abundant this winter and spring.

The river has disappeared, and with it, the fauna and flora. Everything is dead. Two weeks ago, 13km of the Risle River in Normandy also disappeared underground in a large crater. According to geologists, this unprecedented event is due to large cracks and craters in the riverbed...."

Found this article in French. Site translator works
well enough to get the gist, but I have no idea if
this is a legit news source or if France has the same
issue with conspiracy theory sites that we do. I'm
assuming though that any conspiracies about dried up
rivers in France itself would be swiftly called out by
the French people, if published in a French news
source.

this at the end of all current posts for the near
future to reduce confusion).

Hi snodrop,

the article cited by Shirley in turn references an article in
strangesounds dated August 16, 2018
http://strangesounds.org/2018/08/french-rivers-disappear-
underground-doubs-river-has-disappeared-between-pontarlier-and-
morteau-1km-swallowed-up-by-large-cracks-in-the-riverbed.html

The description of the second image also references August 2018.

And this excerpt, too:
"The cave of Remonot is located near the village of Morteau along
the Doubs. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, this Chapel-Cave contains
miraculous water and is visited each year on August 15, 2018, day
of the Assumption. But during this year’s annual pilgrimage, the
cave was dry! The first time ever!"

Unless there was a similar event in 2012 I would assume that what
Shirley posted about happened in August of 2018, and not in 2012.

Look up a French movie

Manon des Sources (sequel to Jean de Florette) which features a water source apparently 'drying up' in the story, with superstitious locals blaming divine intervention...

Fantastic post.

Although I've followed the unbelievable catastrophe in Europe, your links and the charts are very revealing.

From what I've been reading this is all the new normal and linked to the movement of the Jet Stream. That is being altered by the melting Artic and release of methane.

My French is très limité still I recognized Yves Montand almost immediately!

It's always the chem cow farts. Hence why cavemen wisely wiped out the
Megafauna but while getting a taste for steak & milk unfortunately let the
moo cows run rampant giving them free reign assuring our doom...

The government in southern Sweden have granted permission for cows
to visit nudist beaches during the prolonged summer heatwave, despite
complaints from locals, it's reported.

According to The Local news website, nudists have been complaining to
officials in provincial Smaland about livestock visiting their beaches,
saying that their presence is "unhygienic and could pose a health risk".

It says the roasting summer heat affecting much of continental Europe
has led to drought throughout the country, and has meant that farmers
have been struggling to feed their animals.

This has meant that some farmers have decided to slaughter their cattle
earlier than usual; but others have instead decided to bring their
livestock to nearby nudist beaches, in order to cool them down, public
broadcaster SVT reports.

"When it's this dry, you don't want cows to be brought to slaughter out of
necessity. They need to be able to bathe, eat and drink," municipal
official Peter Bengtsson says.

Complaints from bathers have led to municipal Vaxjo's Culture and
Leisure Department taking a vote on whether the cattle were ok to visit,
and have ruled they "have just as much right to be there as the human
visitors".

Mr Bengtsson says that bathers should not be at risk of contracting
infections such as E.Coli, but that farmers should refrain from taking
cows in the water if there are people around who want to swim.

He noted that birds also frequent Smaland's nudist beaches, but said
that if bathers express concerns about allergies or safety as a result of
ground damage, officials may talk to the animals' owners.

So sorry sequoia...been busy and didn't come back to
this board until now, so didn't see your response...I
found the original from the Normandy one (linked) as
per article:

"Two weeks ago, 13km of the Risle River also
disappeared suddenly in Normandy, after a big sinkhole
opened up in the riverbed"

As per article the Normandy one happened (exact video
that was also played in article) and was published
August 9, 2012.

Still interesting however...just not current.

I try to be current on my links, that's why I post the dates.

When I posted it I assumed Mary Greeley would be posting a current link, I just couldn't see the date on her link.

My goggle search for "two rivers disappear in france"" comes up with several links just two days ago.

I've posted one link here.

Thanks for the comments here.
