It has been reported that the Millennium Tower which opened just 7 years ago has ALREADY sunk 16 inches.

If the big one hits, IMO, not only are the residents of that tower in serious danger, but also the residents of buildings close to that tower, which include at least 7.

How is a building as big as that deconstructed? If the Google map is up to date, it appears there is one side of the tower in which there are no buildings. Again, IMO, it seems that an orderly evacuation of the tower should begin and deconstruction start immediately thereafter.

HI BH,

We';e seen many tall buildings imploded over the years and if it comes to that it can be accomplished, but for now the focus is on the City of SF as their inspection folks looked the other way.

Of course, law suits from the Condo owners are flying left and right and I hope there's money somewhere to compensate them as it's friggin' nightmare.

Nonetheless, it makes a good read as a pedestrian bystander to follow along and see what happens, if and when.

Petra

Insurance paid instead of the owners.

and reduce the weight of the building, according to one article in SFGate. No doubt, though, it will cost $$$$$$$'s.
