..although, not officially. Media is ignoring it, from what I hear in NorCal. Is SoCal reporting on the seriousness of the current situation in the valley? My God, what if this thing blows?
Chattsworth, Granada Hills, San Fernando Valley and wherever the wind is flowing (check 'nullschool' wind map), the methane is making people and animals VERY SICK NOW. Time to get the 'bug out' bag and take a vacation, for real, if you're anywhere in the area! It's not only methane gas but a lot of other extremely toxic chemicals, no mention of how much hydrogen sulfide. Anyone got a geiger down there? I can't even imagine the toxic soup in the air with acid rain fallout from El Nino. Lord have mercy- :( The doctors and attorneys say this is an unprecedented amount of gas ever released in a populated area. Unless you want to become a modern science experiment, tell everyone you know living near these areas, they have to leave NOW before they get serious exposure. You won't be able to mediate this kind of exposure, it will simply f*you UP!

Porter Ranch Town Hall Meeting, Dec 28, 2015 (emphasis added):
Rex Paris, attorney (16:30) — “It’s the most massive gas blowout, gas well blowout, in a populated area in history. This has never happened before in a populated area. And so when they tell you that “It’s not damaging”, “It’s just temporary” — whatever nonsense they’re feeding you — understand, nobody knows. It’s never happened before… This can be deadly. Make sure you’re getting treated… Nobody knows what breathing this stuff constantly is doing to [the children]… The gas company says, “This is just the smell you’re reacting to, it’s just temporary, it’s not a problem, it’s not serious” — these people aren’t stupid. How could somebody possibly say that? We have children whose noses are bleeding every day, we have people who suffer from chronic headaches [and] are nauseous every single day. How does that not become a serious issue? Why are they saying something nobody here believes?… They’re trying to convince everybody that it’s all in our heads. It’s a trick.” Mitchell Englander, Los Angeles City Councilman (45:30) — “I will tell you this goes well beyond Porter Ranch. We’ve had complaints from as far as Chatsworth, Northridge, and Granada Hills. Apparently this plume of toxic chemicals and whatever it might be doesn’t know zip codes. So it does keep moving into different locations and different places… This is the equivalent of the BP oil spill on land, in a populated community… We’ve declared a national disaster here.” Dr. Richard Kang, pediatrician (52:45) — “Unfortunately the only real way to get away from the symptoms is, unfortunately, you have to relocate – you have to get away from the environment.” Dr. Brooks Michaels, physician (54:00) — “The defense is capitalizing on the comment that it’s all in your head. Let me clarify a little bit – it’s in your head, it’s in your ears, it’s in your nose, it’s in your throat, and it’s in your chest… We’re seeing asthma increases, we’re seeing people who are using inhalers more often, primarily a lot of respiratory problems… If you have a chance to leave, if you’re able to leave… if you have a chance to relocate, do it now. I’m telling you, it’s really critical. It’s what we don’t know, more than what we do know… A lot of information will be coming out soon about what the chemical carbons are that are so volatile… It’s unbelievable when you see the quantity that’s there that is coming out… What I see in the field is the effect of that. Primarily pulmonary, people will bleed from their nose. It’s not of course just a pediatric problem, it affects all of us.” Dr. David Smith, veterinarian (57:00) — “I have seen dozens of cases of pets being ill or becoming ill and I do believe it’s related to the exposure to the gas… I’ve seen dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets… The primary symptoms I’ve seen are gastrointestinal vomiting primarily. One dog actually had a torsion — I think is related to it — where the stomach flips on itself, not a good thing. We’ve seen quite a few respiratory problems… the only good solution is treat symptoms and remove pets form the exposure as much as possible, especially the chronic exposure… There are not things you should be inhaling… We have seen dermatologic issues as well, some very unusual bacterial infections in dogs. Interestingly enough, one client had a dog with a very unusual bacterial infection on its face. And the client developed almost the exact same kind of symptoms very soon after that, actually 2 people in the house did… Their physician, thinks it’s related, and so I tend to think these correlations are real.”
CBS News, Jan 3, 2016: “I’ve been nauseous. I’ve felt lethargic,” said his mother Christine Soderlund. “My kids have had nosebleeds, they’ve had headaches… It’s surreal… We are a living science experiment I believe.”

Meanwhile, the President is crying over gun control. I guess it is ok to poison someone and kill them slowly. Gas companies are getting away with it. Jeez.

This 'leak' might indeed be similar to the Macondo Well blow-out. First this L.A. Times' article about petroleum surfacing from the well as an oily fine mist that is producing brown spots on nearby lawns. Sooo scary, methane, benzene, and such, then rad fallout, and on top, a storm that will produce acid rain in the area. Meanwhile the SCE 'you know what's' are telling the media to say 'no long term health worries'! The lawyers for the Porter Ranch area are demanding that California State be the inspectors of these wells, otherwise you get the usual fox managing the hen house effect with compromised regulations.
Well there goes the gnatcatchers and the oaks in that area- :( Sad, the houses look pretty nice in that area. I sure hope they can get this well shut down, get people back in their houses, by pouring concrete to plug this up completely, instead of waiting to retrieve more gas 'somehow'. If there's petroleum coming to surface either it's coming to surface through rock, or, the negative pressure of the gas plumage exiting the cavern is pulling in petroleum from the immediate area next to the well. In either case the rising petroleum indicates a broken CASEMENT not only the pipe!
From link at top. For the running Porter Ranch story, see L.A. Times site: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-porter-ranch-gas-leak-live-htmlstory.html
'With capacity to store 86 billion cubic feet, it is one of the largest natural gas storage facilities in the United States.
The attorneys also demanded that state regulators “explain what is happening with the petroleum now surfacing.”
“There is a complete lack of information in the well files,” their letter says, “to show where the gas and petroleum migrates underground and the risk for creating sink holes and geysers.”'
Read the linked article and then watch this vid about how the Russians used an underground nuk to stop a similar type gas blow-out. What got me was the pictures of HOW the major plume developed outside the casing involving both natural gas and petroleum coming up together. Holy Moly, I hope NOT at Porter Ranch.

Here is an interactive map of ALL and many wells, active and inactive, in Aliso Canyon. It's a HUGE gas and oil field, mostly natural gas or 50/50 both? You have to 'accept' their usage of well information on the site, then on page that comes up, find: by city- 'Porter Ranch' and by gas/oil well field - choose 'Aliso Canyon' and check 'get all wells' underneath box. Terrible area to live in, next to such a large gas/oil field.

The scary part is not knowing what's next to this well, how much petroleum and if, like in the Russian vid, the petroleum starts finding it's way into the gas plume, inbetween the pipe and broken casing, or, outside the casing coming to surface through the sedimentary rock. Usually petroleum shouldn't come up with only a broken pipe, ya?
BTW, I haven't found mention of the actual well number of the well that is 'leaking' on any articles. If anyone finds the actual well number(s), pretty please, please post- :) We might find out more information about that storage well or not. There is a major turbine replacement going on at the active well, close by the storage well pipeline that busted. It's hard to know if the construction in any way had anything to do with the nearby storage containment. I noticed on the reports that they do a standard 'neutron density' report. Maybe that's for some type of imaging of the site, not sure.
