Thought was worth a try to send out a call. I behave in the future or try I mean no ill. I need to take some time to look up the scenario where you are, must be better. I then began researching the scenario in NC some, well stuff happens everywhere.
Take care! and best to you and yours if you read this!

Hiya Eve,
Sorry it's been so long to post. I'm doing good. Nothing new to report other than the "officials" have now officially stated our water is "safe". I'm still not drinking it and probably won't. On the positive side I've convinced the hubby it is worth considering moving to a less inhabited area (Wyoming, perhaps) and try to self-sustain. We will do our research and see if we can handle that lifestyle. We'd be better off, I think.
As a side note, you must be spiritually connected to the bigger picture.... you sent this out on my birthday ;)
Hope you and yours are doing well.
Kim

Hi Kim...if you are still reading every now and then I still think of you. I rather can relate in different ways. Plus you are only one I know posted whose home place is in WVA where mine was and folk still are. I sure hope all is okay with you and your family.
I may be wrong...but thought I saw an article about a gas explosion in Wyoming...small town, about 97 was evacuated for a day. Opal, Wyoming it was. No one hurt and I have not followed up...but thought of you and of myself how I can hardly go out here now without my eyes scratching and tearing...never had that before. I have had the nasal and ear issues...I can put plugs in ears, wear a mask...helps some. What to do about eyes? I feel like I can't go out recently for this building site near us and the pollen, pollution. I look at others and see they are not as bad as I am...yet my skin is thin and maybe why I have such an issue, esp. with my nose.
I think I said somewhere...I don't think this thread, I thought about going to this one area and then nearby a coal ash spill into river and I was like, so much for that notion. I stay here and just think oh please come soon Creator, some of us don't wanna harm...SOS...if those who do want to, please let them go to Mars. Would rather they change mind but....
Anyway, when I saw the Wyoming article I thought of you. I dont' think it was/is like the situation in WVA with the water, yet I just know a few details...still be okay. Yet still go with Paint Bank, VA...quite sure population is smaller than 97.
Just looked and no population number is given, that was on wiki...
You go where you feel led, I just thinking maybe more for me...but I don't think I can plow with mule. I would have to drive a couple hours and stock up for awhile. That is one advantage of having some population.
Here though I came was po-dunk (sp?) town on the outskirts quite a bit from Tampa, It was a lot like WVA place in some ways, I liked it. Then in about 6 years time a metropolis has built up to the east of me and now the west is encroaching...the bull dozers are so annoying every day...night even. It was wonderful for 4 or 5 years though.
These builders sure in a hurry. I feel like I am surrounded and poor turkeys even ndering down the street going like so our forest is gone what are we to do now. Every night raccoons fight over territory...deer wander about...birds sing all night sometimes...I feel bad for them. They can munch on my trees...just don't like that digging as if big post holes sometimes. Yet they are hungry. Oh sigh. This too shall pass.
If FL sinks, the break will probably be about where I am...I may be on the Titanic and it just seems like something else. One thing is for sure they be dancing and singing as the ship sinks. They built this huge mall where was just a dead end road once and now the road goes on and on. The mall is like a small town. Built to look that way. I go there and see like stores so high price I wonder who can afford this stuff? Coach handbags...650 dollars and up. I don't think so. Even if I had it. I don't even think they are attractive, guess someone does.
Well that the noodles here. Hope it's better where you are now.
~Eve

Kim!
I am so glad to see your post! Now if nothing else this has made my day. I am up late as I was in bed all day with, I am not sure...but thought it seemed I was to rest, so I did. I wanted to be outside, but I have a few wounds on my hands need to heal and I know I would be planting some things I got and pruning and so on.
In regards to your situation, it is well you and your partner have come to an agreement to at least take a look, check out what else there is, if it is doable.
I am with you, I would not be drinking that water and though not the same here in FL, it tastes bad enough I don't drink it and got a distiller. That won't work for the scenario you have though. I think here it's the local and all the gunk from city whatever that causes the bad water taste. A fridge filter will fix the taste, I just decided to go a bit further and get a bit of the gunk out if I could cause I have a feeling it's there. Esp. when I clean the distiller.
As for me, I am doing well besides feeling my body needed a rest today, I think it's the weather changing I feel. I have a barometer somewhere in my head.
As you may know, there are some places in WVA/VA that are not your regular many people places.
Have you ever been to or heard of Paint Bank, Virginia? if I could manage on my own, I would choose that, if it was like it used to be 30 years ago.
Looking at the maps, nothing much new has sprang up. Maybe a few more hunting and fishing cabins. I know someone who has a cabin there, go there to get away and it's is a true get away. Sounds like it's much the same as it used to be. Fish hatchery the biggest thing around. I recall folks using mules still to farm. They would live off the land and some had another job but it was a far drive unless they worked at the hatchery. Not many cars on the road is a plus. I figure the curvy roads you are used to. The road here is more in a vallley.
When you look at the maps you can see. Best tasting water I recall, I lived there half a year and walked to the spring every day that ran off the hill for water, on hot days stuck my head in it and drank away. Yummy.
By the looks of it they have spruced up the one and only store in town (except I don't think it's a town excactly...but locals use the phrase loosely). When I was there the one store in the area served as the gas station, the post office the grocery...think that is all. Seems like they get a bit of tourism now...used to back in the day, but it was not much. Just a few who want to take a really long drive and look at scenery for a very long time. It's not like the Blue Ridge road ride or anything at all close to that.
I put a link up, I maybe said too much and you have heard of it already. Maybe too, you want and even more remote area. Yet if I was able for myself I would enjoy to go and see how things still are there. I figure much the same.
Sorry I sent you a novel...so many memories...you are not far and I think if you have never been to Paint Bank..if have opportunity if nothing else you enjoy if you have not been already.
Happy happy year to you birthday girl! May what you need the most you find and if you are looking and come to it, you will just know it's for you.
Truly, ~Eve
