From news station this morning in Oregon... the missing is now 27..the dead is 24. I think they said there were at most only 100 people living in the area.
The areas up there still with dogs and equipment and digging through the muck....sometimes those looking for survivors sink down to their waist...most the time down to their knees in the muck...they have asked the volunteers to pretty much let the authorities do it for fear of losing others not trained for rescue.
Two days or so ago, we had 2.40 inches of rain here in Portland in an 48 hour period...they get usually far more rain then that up there...though I think someone changed the weather slightly for them... this time around. The Squinomish (SP) River is where you often see in the rainy periods huge Salmon swimming across the road in flooded water.
