I guess the blizzard in ND has had more far-reaching consequences that we have been hearing.
Why has this not been reported?
Red meat prices will be going up no doubt.
This paragraph explains why the loss of herds was so high.

EXCERPT:
Meanwhile, ranchers on the plains have been dealt a crippling blow the likes that has not been experienced in living memory. The Rapid City Journal continues, ”Silvia Christen, executive director of the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, said most ranchers she had spoken to were reporting that 20 to 50 percent of their herds had been killed. While South Dakota ranchers are no strangers to blizzards, what made Friday’s storm so damaging was how early it arrived in the season. Christen said cattle hadn’t yet grown their winter coats to insulate them from freezing wind and snow. In addition, Christen said, during the cold months, ranchers tend to move their cattle to pastures that have more trees and gullies to protect them from storms. Because Friday’s storm arrived so early in the year, most ranchers were still grazing their herds on summer pasture, which tend to be more exposed and located farther away from ranch homes.”

I did not read this one or look at the date...but there was another storm
earlier, last year I think, same thing...caused the current shortage. I
posted that and a few remarked. It was not in mainstream news either.

I don't know why they don't want folks to know. The law is to gather
them as fast as they can and have a bone fire so the carcasses don't lay
out and cause disease. Hard for them to do when conditions were still
not amicable.

Maybe we should all contact our local TV stations/online and ask them why they hell this isn't being reported? It's outrageous to me that this isn't front page news or rather top headline news. The poor farmers, geeze! It rips 'yer heart out (again). Of course, they were just voting on the farm bill! Do you think that is why we heard nothing about this. These politicos are becoming bigger bastards every day, I swear. Shameful creeps.
