i think the HE has been BEATEN DOWN ... he suggests there are "radioactive products" being released "into the environment" ... what does that mean?
radioactive contamination in the form of "hot particles" and "fuel fleas" into the environment ... or radioactive gases ... he's not being specific
it was Gunderson who introduced these words into our vocabulary ... and now he does not use them to describe the process
steam means some source of water is being laid down on the fuel and it's the decay heat that is causing the water to flash to steam
this is mixed oxide fuel ... it has a plutonium constituent ... the release of plutonium particles into the atmosphere is ... to put it mildly ... a catastrophic event of unknown proportions
it's important to get the "details" correct
shortly after the "detonation" ... he was very careful to distinguish it from a "deflagration" ... he suggested that people in Seattle were ingesting as many as 5 hot particles a day
what's different ...?... he says that the fuel is producing nearly a megawatt of "decay heat" ... but then he seems to be unsure about what that means
radioactive steam ...?... is the fuel "burning" or not ... i agree with you ... it's way past "getting me down"
i have the following cached from June 08, 2011 at 17:01:26 ... "Arnie Gundersen, 5 'hot particles' per day breathed in Seattle"
my notes follow ... "Gundersen says that 5 or so 'hot particles' breathed in per day by people living in Seattle ... these 'fuel fleas' are very small charged particles and can lodge in the lungs and cause a cancer"
oh well ... fiddle de de ... i've got shopping to do ... only 360 shopping days until the next blow-out
