Reactor Designer: “It was a nuclear explosion” at Fukushima Unit 3; Plutonium scattered after blast

I watched video of the Reactor 3 explosion ... There was an orange flash, which suggests the temperature must have been thousands of degrees centigrade before the explosion. Then there was black smoke.
-- Setsuo Fujiwara

Fukushima Daiichi plant description

"In September 2010, reactor 3 was partially fueled by mixed-oxides (MOX)."

MOX fuel

"Mixed oxide fuel, commonly referred to as MOX fuel, is nuclear fuel that contains more than one oxide of fissile material, usually consisting of PLUTONIUM [emphasis added] blended with natural uranium, reprocessed uranium, or depleted uranium."

Plutonium

"Plutonium is a transuranic radioactive chemical element ... can spontaneously ignite. It is radioactive and can accumulate in the bones."

Mixed oxide fuel

"It's unknown if a device using plutonium obtained from reprocessed civil nuclear waste can be detonated, however such a device could hypothetically fizzle and spread radioactive materials over a large urban area."

URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fizzle_(nuclear_test)

"In nuclear weapons, a fizzle occurs when the testing of a nuclear bomb grossly fails to meet its expected yield. The reason(s) for the failure can be linked to improper bomb design, poor construction, or lack of expertise. ... All countries that have had a nuclear weapons testing program have experienced fizzles. ... A fizzle can spread radioactive material throughout the surrounding area, involve a partial fission reaction of the fissile material, or both. ... For practical purposes, a fizzle can still have considerable explosive yield when compared to conventional weapons."

It's a done deal. We've really screwed ourselves. I just can't wrap my brain around how TPTB that have allowed this nightmare to continue now for almost 3 years, expect to survive themselves!

Make no mistake, we are the LAST generation. From here on, the children, the sea life, the animals are all going to perish prematurely from various cancers.

I read enenews daily, if the hundreds of article, posted there are any indication we are well and truly fucked.

Guy McPherson's blog has some great articles concerning how to emotionally and spiritually deal with NTE (Near Term Extinction.) I really like Carolyn Bakers words on the whole situation.

To quote the Sex Pistols...
"No future,
no future, no future for you."

"On 24 February 2006, the Sex Pistols -- the four original members plus Vicious -- were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but they refused to attend the ceremony, calling the museum 'a piss stain.'"
