URL: FEMA Stages Sandy PR Show For Gov Christie

Your house is destroyed, you have a wife, two kids (7 and 3 yrs old), and a dog. Your servers are gone, your Internet biz is dead (for now), and all you have is a cell phone and a car that runs (maybe he had gas at the beginning of his videos).

I didn't know about Alex's background. He's had a hard life, being thrown out at 16 in a blizzard by his less-than-coping parents and brought himself up out of the hole to land with a self-made job and family on a beach town on the Jersey Shore. Life was good! Christie, Fema, and Red Cross were all a total ZIP to help anyone. The Salvation Army are the only ones out their helping on the ground. Supplies don't mean crap when your house is gone.

Thank you Alex for the perspective of life in the disaster zone. Feeling like a hobo is not fun. He has the clothes on his back, is tired, dirty, and hungry (no mention where the kids are). He travels to the area where Christie put on a dog and pony show, FEMA standing around doing nothing, with little smiles on their faces once they know he's recording his interaction with them. He got a tiny bit of help (a pastor prayed for him - woohoo!) but mostly he is told over and over, just wait and wait some more. None of these idiot FEMA could show up with a bag of food for anyone - truly, truly pathetic.

His warning is "Romney you better not get elected you f'ng piece of s*t," who wants to privatize the cardboard boxes everyone will be living in (phew)! The idea that decentralizing gov't to cities and states that are broke or almost broke is going to work is ridiculous. I agree but I don't think OB will act much differently as disasters manifest. When Alex said 33,000 people are without supplies I thought shoot, there is no way any gov't agency can deal with this well but you'd think they'd start with areas that are flattened not go check on their rich friends and plan marathons. Would local groups, if they had the money, do this better? Depends on where you are probably.

I miss his radiation graphs and articles already! He's starting over from scratch, once again. All he's got is his cell phone to record what's happening to him and his family. Quite the heads-up, close in and personal. It's obvious if you don't have a car, you're really in bad shape to get to any centers or areas where you can get a few supplies.

The pic is the area where his house is, rather, he can see that bridge in the pic from his waterfront house (or what's left of it) on Barnegal Bay.

The marathon runners made it out to Staten Island with supplies.
I did not see any reports of RedCross there.
I would assume, if they were there,
they would be PR~ing (is that a word? LOL)
in front of those media cameras to promote for more donations.
Other communities, especially the most hard hit ones,
seem to be pulling together on their own.
Or with outside community help.

What is going on? It has been a week!
Those Poor People!

I don't get it either. The communications are bad but the expectations of helping these people is really bad, like they're in denial or just don't give a rat's patoot. Maybe they've been 'trained' to respond to nasty starving angry people with their objective 'sure glad it's not me' face on. Also the stations they set up had to be a problem for people with no gas and no clothing to walk around in the cold not having food for a couple of days. Truly I hope this all turns around quick, like Haiti aid style- drop them boxes and water- or else, start emailing in their favor. I feel terrible for Alexander and his family. I thought you can give them money but where what how are they going to use it?

Sorry I didn't read the links BEFORE I replied. There is a Donation button on his website. We may not be able to do much, individually, but TOGETHER we can help.

There but for the Grace of God...

Is there some way we can get money to him? Can someone set up an Internet account to donate to?

I'm not sure what all the ways besides PayPal or how to set up a text message account (that would be cool). He will find a way to access the money even if he has to travel for it but he must be running out of gas. I wouldn't brave those lines if I had food. Think I'll put a message on one of his vids to ask him how we can help besides the PayPal account. This is a guy who really cares about other people and worked hard on his website to provide breaking news on touchy events. I can only imagine how angry he must feel about being abandoned..:/ His worst fear is that his ex will come after their son now that he doesn't have a place, eegads.

Chris,

That is called NY POLITICS ... + being in a poorer neighborhood in the tri-state area. If it were a wealthy NY neighborhood, it would've gotten first help, promise you that!
