Reminded me that our infrastructure is very fragile. 5 different phone companies reported outages, very strange isolated feeling. some reports are saying that more than 100 fires were started during Saturday night's lightning storm. It was wild and lasted most of the night. North Central Washington was under siege as the bolts rumbled, roared and circled all around us. We watched the flames grow in ever widening areas through yesterday's windstorm. Now there is almost no visibility beyond the tree in my yard. Thick smoke is everywhere.

I didn't mean to imply that we were in any danger from flames. All of the lightning fires in our little burg were put out quickly but across the lake and over the next ridge on either side have developed some huge blazes. The city of Wenatchee (pictured)has a page long list of housing areas that have been evacuated. We are well protected by orchard as we discovered about 10 years ago when a fire roared around our hillside. The lovely homes built in the draws, coulee's and canyons are mostly at risk. My son's home is close to some of the most serious action but he is in a flatland subdivision and luckily the wind has died down.
