My 16 year old was taking his first driving lesson today when out of the corner of his eye, something caught his attention. He said he saw a plane just "drop out of the sky" into a field ahead.
His instructor called 911.

Plane crashes in Tehachapi; pilot injured
TEHACHAPI -- An experimental airplane crashed Tuesday afternoon after taking off from Tehachapi Airport.
The pilot was identified as David Robins, 29, of Tehachapi. According to the Tehachapi Police Dept., he was conscious when he was airlifted to Kern Medical Center.

"experimental plane" - guess that one will need more work but what a lucky pilot to come out alive huh?
Lucky your son and instructer called 911 probably just in the nick of time.
