PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES...

um..."Duh".

Dry, inland areas shouldn't have fireworks, imo., unless they are directly over a large lake or something.

Our town, despite the wisdom, sets off firesworks from our small, municipal airport every year.

Out of the last 5 years of doing this, 4 of them involved the putting out of the wildfires it set off.

Last year no wildfire was ignited from the display, and that made the news.

(don't get me started!)

We're in a serious drought here, too, Red. We are NOT going
to our local small community airport this year to watch.

They're still gonna do the fireworks even tho the grass is crispy.

Feels like we're in Amity and there's a shark in the water and the
beach only has one entrance and exit.

It takes over an hour to clear the parking area on a GOOD night.

The world's run by idiots.

You have to think so by some of the actions. I mean, our town refers to the event as the 4th of July annual fireworks and wildfire event each year.

You would think the town could save quite a bit of money by cancelling them due to high fire conditions...and maybe use that money for another activity, like music/concerts in the park or free hot dogs for all (small town, it has to be cheaper than fireworks and massive fire control).

Thankfully, I live 11 miles from the airport. My place of employment is 1/4 mile from the airport. I always hope I still have a place to work left standing on July 5th.

The "The Fire Marshal is requesting that citizens share the responsibility and be the eyes and ears for our community in order to keep the city safe. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious fire activity to law enforcement."

Are they still thinking these fires were set, do you know? I saw on a map that they do look lined up south to north (not that it means anything in itself). The pattern made me wonder although wind. blowing north, might spark one after the other.

Don't mean to make light of such horrible destruction ... but ... would think that's sort of an oxymoron ... why do fireworks at such a time?!!! Thank God THEY'RE NOT!!!!
