found it on wunderground in the messages. Prayers, many prayers for those fighting the fires, the people and animals.
Colorado Springs Air Force stadium is the building in the foreground just to give you a feeling for the size of those flames. It seats 47K people.
So far more than 32,000 folks evacuated.

This is one SICK fire. I saw this pic last night and it still freaks me out. I checked the SPCA for Colorado Springs and they said supplies and help aren't needed (really?). I worry about the farm animals and people's cats and dogs. The area is beautiful but what if you were out when this thing started and couldn't get back in? Some with money are treating their trees with something special that last a few hours in hopes it will save their homes. I wish them great luck! This fire reminds me of the Australia fire storms. Is it true that we rejected the super duper Russian fire planes? Not too smart.

I was remembering when we had a discussion here some time back, probably when that horrid fire in Ca happened several years ago, about those amazing planes.
Crikey why would they reject the use of them. That's just nuts! But then again what isn't?

Oh yes I think about the folks who lost their pets alot in these kinds of situations where they're given 5 minutes to evac. Well I heard that many were given just that amount of time. Barely time to find one's kitties, dogs let alone get them safely into the car along with the kids, important papers, etc. It's heartbreaking!

The weather is going to stay hot for all next week too so who knows where this fire goes?

God I hate this fire and to think someone set it..oh boyz, don't let anyone get their hands on that dude!! Whenever I see this picture I get those gut wrenching goose bumps again. The animal stories in the aftermath of this fire are going to be very sad, if any survive. I wonder if there is a community (Boulder, CO Springs, etc.) twitter of the fire so people can let everyone know what they need right now? People who've been in fires before, often come to the rescue with bags of toiletries, stuff like that, to get them through the shelter stays but for sure, they won't have enough due to the large number evacuated. I really feel sorry for these folks!

It will take a while to look through these. Got to be careful about cons at work, if you want to donate- :) It'd be great if someone set up a text number for donation to a vetted Colorado Springs/ Boulder and other specific community groups hit by these fires.

Having seen scenes like that from my front porch in years past, they have my complete sympathy. My heart and prayers go out to them.

Wildfires are scary stuff.

yes I remember when you went through those fires Redhart.
In my above post I mentioned the Russian fire planes. Remember the videos of how fast they can put out forest fires? Geez, I sure wish we could bring them here and wonder why we can't? Any ideas?

Budget cuts.

Congrats! Good news! Your tax bill is lower! Bad news, we no longer have a mailing address for you (other than the red cross shelter).
