Watching from my yard and out the window as I type. No structures in path, so far. Lot's of black smoke continues. Was in Moreno Valley when I first saw this one at abt. 4:20 PM. Burning closer to Beaumont Blvd./Lamb Canyon Rd.,Beaumont, as well as south of here. Reports from Desert Hot Springs that they too can see the header. Highland Springs Road is closed at First Street.

Current Situation: Update 5:25 p.m. Fire is now 1,100 acres. No structures are threatened. No injuries reported. Updates are posted as information becomes available from the Incident Commander and will continue to be posted throughout the duration of the incident. Update 3:50 p.m. - Fire is now 600 acres. Update 3:30 p.m.: Fire is now approximately 400 acres. No structures are threatened. Update 2:50 p.m. Fire is now approximately 250 acres. No structures threatened, no injuries reported. Update 2:10 p.m. Fire is now approximately 100 acres. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a wildland fire in Beaumont. The fire is currently approximately 30 acres and is being pushed by 15-20 mph winds in a westerly direction. No structure threat. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. Current weather: 86 degrees, 19% rh, winds WSW 21 mph.

This fire was last reported at 2,000 acres. Fire planes have stopped, but will be back between 7am and 7:30 tomorrow. Attaching the wildlandfire.com site for this specific fire.
Keep us updated on your end. You are a lot closer to this one than I am.

Update 6:25 a.m. 6/17/2012 - Fire is 2198 acres and 30% contained.
Last night the winds died down, which has helped. I hear helicopters, though they are not flying overhead this morning.
Had been following Wildland Fire, also. Do not think Highland Springs has opened yet. Not seeing headers that were visible since the fire started.

2200 acres as of around 9 AM. Winds have picked up and water dropping helicopters are flying over again. No large plumes are visible from here, so far. Still no structures involved, per reports.
Looks like the helicopters are dropping close to the SE of my location. This was the hot and heavy area burning last night. Don't know how it's going closer to Beaumont/79 location. That was burning when I came home yesterday afternoon. They did finally close 79 for a while. If I get the chance, will drive around to see what I can.

new start approx. 3 miles east of the fire. South facing ridge.
Watching it and checked wildand fire post for this into.

Looks like that one is out. Watched them do a few foscheck drops. That's all I could see from here.The fire was on the other side of the ridge. Was busy working and didn't get back to report. They are good at puting these things out.

Update 4:59 pm - The fire is still 2200 acres, 60% contained. Full containment is now expected to occur at approximately 6:00 pm tomorrow evening - Monday, June 18, 2012.
Wind has picked up.

Update 6:41 pm 6/18/2012: Fire - fully contained at 6:00 pm this evening, expected full control tomorrow evening by 6:00 pm. Final mapped acreage: 2171 acres. Per RFD.
The wind is stronger today, lots of smoke. Was in Moreno Valley again today and the smell of smoke is strong there too. Driving back, the smoke is visibly spread over a wide area. Winds blowing out of the SW.
