Just read that "Federal emergency management officials
approved Gov. Greg Abbott's request to add Collin,
Cooke, Denton and Montague counties to the list of more
than a dozen Texas counties already approved in the
disaster declaration. The declaration allows FEMA to
provide funds for temporary housing, emergency home
repairs, property losses, disaster legal services and
medical and funeral expenses caused by the disaster".

I understand that people need the help, but these are
the same people who support and endorse Abbott's power
grabs and his diminishing of rights, and probably are
the same people who want Texas to secede - but wait,
wait, wait, not so fast.....not until they get the
federal monies for the disasters first. They just
don't get how hypocritical they sound.

I am not a supporter of my governor. I guess that means since I live in
Washington state and we have an earthquake I don’t deserve support
even if I pay taxes.

You are of the Republican race...racism rules on multiple levels in this
world you see.

I abide in Florida and though I do not believe or place faith in politics
but many of segmented thoughts will place me in a box and label it
Republican race.

I hear that, but I also have family in some of those
places that endured those storms..and the after effects
(closed roads, disrupted utilities, etc). Most are not
even Abbott supporters.

I think they should be helped "despite" the politics.
Until further notice, they're still Americans. How far
do we take the red vs. blue? There are a lot of people
not involved in politics at all just trying to live and
raise families.

Abbott tends to create his own karma.

Meanwhile, we have one family member and one friend
who's left Texas due to the insanity down there and the
current texas admin's inability to actually govern
well.

Idk, Redhart, I agree that not everyone in that state
supports the governor. However, the governor represents
the state of texas and its people (and politics) and
that same governor keeps making dissing, snubbing and
slamming the United States and its government and
passing laws that undermine the rights of so many yet
turns around and wants them to help his state. Maybe
since Texas governor is so unhappy with being part of
the USA, the governor should dig deep into Texas funds
and pay for the costs associated with the natural
disaster -since he claims he doesn't want the Federal
government interfering with his rule. Since the crappy
governor is still in office, it means that there are
more texans who support him, his views and laws, than
those who don't (or do not care to participate in the
process of voting).
True, other states are not happy with the Federal
government as such, and some of them do squawk loudly,
but others realize - as the saying goes - to not bite
the hand that feeds them.
