URL: Monstrous EIGHTEEN FOOT storm surge swallows Fort Myers

Horrifying footage showed wave after wave pummel the small city, where an extreme wind warning is currently in effect, swallowing buildings and cars as the monster tempest finally made landfall on Wednesday.

Fort Myers was one of the first cities to be battered by Ian, with apocalyptic images from after the initial surge showing homes decimated by its wrath as roads turned into rivers with the tsunami of floodwater.

One of the ladies in my book club (who worked on the
Artemis project for 10 years and is still here in the
PNW) JUST last week had the completion of her newly
built home in Venice, FL abut 1/2 mile from the
beaches. She was planning to move there in January-
with her home being built next door to her sister's.
With the power out, she has no idea the condition of
her home.

When she shared with us she was building there, I
cautioned her about hurricanes (having gone through
Hurricane Iniki in 1992 in Poipu, Kauai), but she
chuckled and said that there haven't been any serious
hurricanes in decades on the gulf side.
Guess she tempted fate by saying that.
