Thanks-watched it last night. I think there is something to the asteroid hitting the UK too during this time beside the volcanic blowing. So they got a double wammy.

"I think there is something to the asteroid hitting the UK too during this
time"

What asteroid "hitting the UK" in the 6th century?

I've not heard of an asteroid hitting the Earth in the
6th century, however there is a theory with some
evidence for a celestial impact at least contributing
to the 6th century climatic events. See link.

Does it say anything struck the UK?

Some suspect something hitting Aussieland

Thanks Jim, that's the one. There are many articles on this theory. Comet, not asteroid.

There is also this research (link to PDF) that finds
evidence for a North American eruption in late 535 or
early 536 is one of the primary causes of the 6th
century climatic events. This research thinks a second
tropical eruption added to the atmospheric loading.
This paper doesn't mention a possible cosmic
contribution.
