My place sits on Clear Creek in French Gulch on Trinity Mtn. Rd. (approx.5 miles from Jackass Lane & Drunken Gulch). I was having lunch outside on my deck Monday 7/23 @ 1:00pm when my neighbor yelled look there's a fire. As we sat still enjoying our meal we soon realized that This wall of destruction was moving fast upon us. By 1:40 we were under a mandatory evacuation. PG&E had cut the power making it difficult see what to pack so we hooked up the ski boat & threw in some bedding, beer & water. We were told go to Trinity Lake Center (20 mi of unpaved road, really? ), Hwy 299 is now closed off. Within minutes the fire was jumping erratically, & soon Trinity was on fire so now we are blocked in. We hung out with some 'ol timers we met, then by 9:pm we found our 2 mile path to return back home was not barred by security...yet , so we stayed home for 3 days. Its now 110+ & no electricity yet, we may have strayed too far (cuz we went to get some ice for the beer) We are now in Redding (16 miles away from home) in a motel sans nothing(left the boat) & told to evacuate once again(Fri.nite).I am now watching this FIRENADO DEVASTATE a residential area of Redding & I'm witnessing an emergency evacuation of 2,000+ people. TTYL, Love G.

WOW! I'm so glad you did the smart thing and went by boat! Colleen who
once posted here lives in Redding and I haven't heard from her. Our friends
live in Happy Valley part of Anderson, south of Redding . The Casino 3 miles
below them was evacuated earlier today and we haven't heard from them
either. The photos are terrifying and our prayers are with all of you.
Be safe G! Blessings, Jody
