Uh boy, as one ends another begins. because there are
evacs involved, posting initial info due to potential.
I'm hoping with all the resources currently north of
this area, they will get this out quickly long before
it becomes destructive to live and property:
A brush fire quickly spreading near homes in Riverside
erupted Thursday, damaging at least one and igniting
other fires as embers landed on palm trees lining the
streets. Mandatory evacuations were ordered.
The fire was reported at 11:30 a.m. in the area of
Mission Inn Avenue and the Santa Ana river bottom,
fanned by 30 mph winds. By 1:15 p.m., the fire was
roughly 45 acres.
Homes along Indian Hill Road near downtown Riverside
were under immediate threat and have been evacuated.
The California Highway Patrol was also clearing
traffic from the roadway, according to reports from
the scene.
Mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents on
the following streets: Indian Hill Road, Glenwood
Drive, Loring Drive, Mount Rubidoux Drive and
Miramonte Place.

CA fires only get a name when 100 acres are burnt.
years ago I saw one start in the Santa Cruz Mtns.
and since i saw it and gave the fire service a geographical location from my house. they were able to get there fast and get it out with only 20 acres burnt.
they explained the name process to me then.

They actually give it an incident name at 10 acres (am
on a fire list with pros on it).
