A warming, rapidly changing Arctic is the "new normal" and shows no signs of returning to the reliably frozen region of the past.
This is according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Arctic Report Card.
Director of the administration's Arctic Researcher Program, Dr Jeremy Mathis, said the region did a great service to the planet - acting as a refrigerator.
"We've now left that refrigerator door open," he added.
Dr Mathis was speaking at the annual American Geophysical Union meeting in New Orleans, where Noaa presented its annual summation of Arctic science.

This is the 12th report the administration has produced. And although it pointed to "a few anomalies" in a recent pattern of warming in the Arctic region, Dr Mathis said: "We can confirm, it will not stay in its reliably frozen state."
"The thing I took that had the most resonance for me was we're able to use some really long-term records to put the Arctic change into context - going back more than 1,500 years.
"What's really alarming for me is that we're seeing the Arctic is changing faster than at any rate in recorded history."
The speed of change, Dr Mathis added, was making it very hard for people to adapt.
"Villages are being washed away, particularly in the North American Arctic - creating some of the first climate refugees," he said.
"And pace of sea level rise is increasing because the Arctic is warming faster than we anticipated even a decade ago." ....

Retired NASA Physicist – Climate Change Alarmism is
GIGO - garbage in, garbage out.
The “propaganda” underpinning climate alarmism is
“causing tremendous political bottlenecks” that
prevent government officials from “doing the right
thing” on energy, said retired physicist Hal Doiron.
Doiron, who helped develop the Apollo Lunar Module’s
landing dynamics software during NASA’s moon
missions, criticized the Navy for “preparing for
something that is unreasonable and would cost too
much money” in the form of “extreme sea-level rise,”
which has not been borne out by rigorous scientific
study.
Models don’t agree with physical data.
“At NASA, we have a policy: You can’t make a design
decision on a spacecraft or rocket that is not
validated,” he said. “You don’t make critical
decisions based on ‘garbage in, garbage out.’ Yet our
government has been doing that with respect to
climate alarm, because too many academics in
universities are writing papers, drawing conclusions
from models that don’t agree with physical data.”
“The scientific method requires that your hypothesis
and theories be confirmed by physical data,” he said.
“Computer models are not physical data, although I
think many in academia don’t understand that.”
The fact that unvalidated models often don’t agree
with each other should be a “big, red flag.”
Doiron is part of a group called “The Right Climate
Stuff,” which includes engineers and scientists who
have taken part in NASA’s most high-profile missions
dating back to Apollo.

Record cold summer in Denmark

“The Danish met-office (DMI), has come out with an
announcement,” says reader Ole Jensen.
“It took them a few months, but better late than
never, right?
“Headline reads :
“Yes, the summer was miserable this year : Lowest
daily high ever recorded”.
“Highest temp. recorded through the summer was 26.8
C., which is the lowest summer high since
measurements began in 1874. (and the Arctic is
warming, riiiiight)
The weather this year has also been characterized by
very few sunny hours and a lot of rain.
Descent into Little Ice Age conditions in 10 years
Looks like the scientific findings, peer reviewed,
and published in several main stream scientific
European publications, that Solar Warm periods like
the one which ended in 2008 in climate terms,
abruptly end with the entry into a Grand Solar
Minimum, the changeover period before the climate
change is locked into the fossil records is 10 years.
Their studies were based on the Late Antique Little
Ice Age (LALIA), which, coupled with worldwide
volcanic eruptions gave rise the Black Death, famine
and war, and reduced the Human population of Europe
by a third.
Their other finding for Europe at least, is that the
climate changes from a benign warm to a cold, wet and
very, very windy climate.
Given that Denmark is situated on the North Sea and
at the entrance to the Baltic and in the same air
stream wind directions, It would suggest the
Scandinavia, the Baltic States and the Great Britain
is all covered by this finding.
Yet you will not see the UK Met Office publishing
similar reports, they are fully signed up to
supporting the AGW war on energy and the levies to
support Carbon Credits at the expense of the people
of the UK as a whole.

Note: According to Wikipedia, the LALIA was a long-
lasting Northern Hemisphere cooling period from 536
to about 660 AD. It followed three immense volcanic
eruptions in 536, 540 and 547. One of the suspected
volcanic sites is the Rabaul caldera, in the western
Pacific, which erupted around 540. The extreme
weather events of 535–536 were the early phenomena of
the century-long global temperature decline.
