many heroes who risked their lives to save these horses. They tried to free them all but the ones that dies were the horses that got scared enough to flee right back into the barns where they felt safe. The barns burned down. Awesome story and also very sad too about those 30-40 horses that perished there.

There were 450 horses stabled there, I had no idea that many! The story about the 2 yr. old the rancher tried to save, oh oh oh! How do people overcome this kind of tragedy when the animals are their lives? I guess the get through by hanging on to those they rescued. In the case of so many horses, they'd have needed more than a couple cattle beds and likely, the horses would have none of it! Too bad there wasn't SOME sort of heads-up an hour or two before the fire hit the ridge. I wonder if people were listening to any fire broadcasts? Even people get paralyzed with inaction in the face of life threatening danger. Very sad. Thanks for the article. I hope MSN picks these stories up. The ranchers are going to need a lot of help recovering from this event.

Murder is one thing. You can tell when someone really hates you and they kill those things you love first and then kill you.
