The California wildfires have burned through so much acreage in
the Golden State that the smoke is visible from space.

NASA tweeted a handful of photos of the smoke plume drifting
over the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday.

The NASA photos were taken from the International Space
Station, and show heavy clouds of smoke billowing from
California’s mountainous terrain.

A major Santa Ana weather event with wind gusts between 70
and 80 mph, and low relative humidity are to blame for the
Skirball fire, which is threatening Los Angeles’ affluent Bel Air
neighborhood, officials said.

The four fires are currently blazing through thousands of acres in
California, forcing residents to evacuate. Each of the fires was at
just 5 percent containment or below as of Wednesday afternoon.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency in
Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

Sounds a bit like how Ed Dames reported the other 3? events around the killshot. It, of course is a series of flares that happen right after an emergency landing of the space station, I vaguely think I recall.

But around same time is also a true pandemic, and North Korea nuking south K., then we retaliate and NK does another Pearl Harbor to one of the Hawaii islands, I think he indicated Oahu again.

His point that I am doing a poor job of describing was that as horrible things start to happen they hit close together. (Hearing him say this on coast radio reminded me of bible in Revelations where it says that "for the sake of the elect" God will shorten the days.

Your dream sounds, sad and sickeningly, most believable.

Some years ago, I had a chance to visit the SB, HD
area over there..around Thanksgiving. The humidity
levels at the time, were so low, that I felt my lungs
were burning up. Had to escape the next day.

"Last week the outdoor humidity as measured by my home
weather station dropped below 10 percent. By Wednesday
morning, wildfires were burning on a wide crescent of
mountain ranges on the fringes of the metropolis. One
of them loomed near the treasures of the Getty art
museum and threatened homes on Linda Flora Drive in
Bel-Air — the street where my kid sister lives."

Imagine the horror if there was a nuke, EMP, no communication or power. It would be even worse than now.

Yeah, that's a kewl photo... looks like early in the
fires. That big one is farther north and west now.
I can see my house nearly out of frame in the
southern sierras there where I've been looking
southwest and seeing the massive plumes in real
time.

At night, the southwest horizon glows red from my
vantage point.

today's image is there as well as previous days but not yet a full image. It looks way better than a couple of days ago. I used these images last summer to see where the smoke was from all our forest fires, the ones that filled our valley with thick smoke for weeks here in Or.
There's much larger images on the MODIS website at the link as well. The image didn't show up on this page so you have to go to the link to see it!

The Lilac fire is 20% contained, burned 4100 acres, destroyed 105 structures, several burn victims.
Rye fire is 65% contained, 6,049 acres burned.
Creek fire: 70% containment.
Thomas fire: 10%, 143,000 acres burned, 476 structures destroyed and there's 3874 personnel on this fire
Skirball fire: 50% containment, 475 acres burned.

That's all I've got for now, hubby brought home that flu bug that's going around here!

he's feeling pretty bad, these bugs always seem to get worse at night. I'm fighting it and so far feeling like I'm winning. Just talked to my brother who drove up hwy 101 today. He said it was a pretty sad scene, driving past so many burned homes, fires still active and the smoke in Santa Barbara was so bad he could barely see where he was going but he did get home!

I heard that the winds are up tonight and in other news, over 40 horses perished in the San Luis Rey Downs training facility. Lots of broken hearts there!

winds are up at the house here, too...still not
quite as bad as the night this started, but it's
still getting stronger.

Yeah...I imagine that was a very sad and sobering
ride up the 101. please take care. if I could email
you some chicken soup, I would!
