some good news... first of any of the fires to have any containment: 5%
aircraft having success along flanks of fire, but the western head of fire still very dangerous and moving toward simi valley.

Sort of a summary of things on this fire. There was no sign of the fires earlier tonight from my porch, but tonight the glow is back on the sw horizon. It appears to me to be the closer fire,or Rye fire that's near the Newhall pass.
Checking around between online reports and scanner, it appears the Rye fire has been moving west into the Santa Suzanna mountains approaching Simi Valley. Some reports estimate it could reach the edge of neighborhoods by morning.
The Thomas Fire (Ventura) has jumped 101 and hit the ocean on the west...but per scanner there has been a major windshift now off the ocean (180 degree change) and pushing it back toward Simi valley from the other side. Many people in the Moorepark (western side of Simi valley) have been reporting seeing the flames hitting ridges above...not yet too Moorepark, but enough to start making many very nervous.
If you are in the Simi Valley-North San Fernando Valley area, please pay close attention and keep updated on the fire activity in your areas, especially with the erratic strong winds.
