Some of you may have seen this article in the Press Democrat, regarding the oddball things people grabbed in the five minute warning most of them got! It's an eye-opener, LOL.
'“My dirty laundry! Figured it was everything I'd worn in the last week, so at least I'd have some clothes I knew fit!”
“I broke down and put my entire cat tree in my car.”
...and more at link. It makes me thing seriously about what I will grab in a five minute 'get out' notice! Maybe it's the shock of the situation that brings 'entertainment' or 'what will I do without THAT special item' to mind when evacuating in a hurry? It's something to think about if you ever get caught in an evacuation event, especially one that's very short notice.

hi Poly, -we both live here in nor cali and I've thought what to heck to grab when I'd need to evacuate...
I'd grab my black cougar ie the black kitty, my passport and hopefully I'm wearing my furry boots in case there is glass on the ground...
it really is an eye opener when these disasters strike... better to be safe than sorry...
I think the people who are experienced campers ( in the wilderness ) will fare the best, the ones who have been out in the wild for weeks at a time without any modern conveniences....

Hardest thing I have for emergency that I can't seem to keep stocked up in is tarps. I'm always in the store stocking them up again. But they have plenty of uses also.
