good news that folks are finally able to report in lessening the numbers of the missing. Also, there was a huge air fight to save Sonoma town and it worked, so far those air drops of retardant, water have saved this town and most of the fires are not burning tonight like they were earlier. So after over 12 hours of following the events on so many sites, I think I can breathe a little knowing that these places we know and love so much will not burn.
Here in Oregon during this summer of nonstop forest fires, our air got so full of smoke we had to change the AC air filters every couple of weeks, and the ash burnt leaves on our garden trees, vegies, etc.!
The MODIS satellite image for today shows so little smoke compared to past days, and you can go back in time. Unfortunately this image won't post so you have to go to the link, play with it a bit.
Phew, I feel like celebrating those air tankers who worked so hard as well as the 8,000 firefighters, many of whom lost their own homes to fight this monster! For the 1st time in days, I have hope that this fire will finally be controlled. Still my heart aches for all the folks who lost their homes so that will be my efforts going forward to tell their stories. :)

thank you, Sheila...was trying to find some real time updates on line. Trying to find a station on the weekend is awful (cooking shows, travel shows, prison shows.. the news channels show everything but news on teh weekend ARGH!)
Even the internet articles are slow to come on sat & sun.
So, appreciate it!

tv news hasn't been good at all except for the weather channel which is offline on weekends. The link provides a smoke graph for current conditions but you have to zoom way in to see CA. I'm going to get offline tonight, so tired am I but thankful I found all the links I did. I think I'm going to sign into twitter, seems to be a good source of realtime news since cable news has ignored California in general and this horrid fire in particular. Blessings to you!
