The Partrick, Norrborn, Nuns, Adobe, and Pressley fires are all in a ring to the east of Rohnert Park and Petaluma. I heard there are contigency plans for evac if the fires were to combine and/or go further west. I cannot imagine seeing fire coming over the hill by Petaluma. Saturday night we are supposed to get fire whipped again with strong winds on mountain tops. Now they are saying the winds may have caused wires to touch and create sparks that started the fires. 'Moonbeam' as some call him, Jerry Brown supposedly stopped legislation to make the wires more safe. Argh, hindsight is always 20/20.

The fire investigations will take a long time to know exactly what conditions led to the start and rapid spread of these fires. At least now they are getting more help, all the time. There are other fires (3 I think) in Californa and Nevada that are almost put out so more equipment will be freed up soon.

I was thinking how it's bad enough to have your house burned and all your things, let alone not have work. Not having a workplace to go to or to have customers that are all displace so there's no business AND your house goen is TOO MUCH. It might almost be better to get out of state with relatives if you can, in the latter case. For older folks I can't imagine what hell they must be feeling now, almost 'this is it', I'm gone. Some news tells of specific places to go where coats and things are needed for kids, others say give cash, don't drop things off. I think the communications could be better for the current daily needs of specific places across the media platforms available, but it's not happening at this time.

I'm watching the fire slowly take over places, doctors, and vendors where I took my mom when she was alive. Her retinal specialist (the only big center in all of N. Cali) was nestled among the trees along Mendoncino Avenue. I expect they are burning now or about to be burned down. Maybe not. It's hard to tell where resources are currently that are attempting to save buildings. There are SOME but it's not known by most people unless they are standing on a block where a containment effort is being waged. I noticed that the fire goes down ridges along the hills and then sweeps across the valleys. Soooo scary.

It might be nice if more drones were employed so people can watch certain areas in the centers. Not knowing and waiting, then sudden notice of total devastation makes dealing with all this so much harder. If there was more access to drone footage, it might give people more time to react and noodle the information about their area ahead of official notice. Maybe it 's too much trouble with some planes in the air, to monitor any drones that are not authorized ahead of time, for TV news stories and the like.

yeah, for public safety and firefighter safety, all
drones get grounded. What they do is create a "no
fly zone" where the battles are going on. They don't
want a copter doing a drop running into someone's
drone.

Last year someone sent a drone up to get video of a
fire, and they had to ground all air craft until it
was gone (then they went looking for the owner of
the drone...can't imagine they were very nice to
him).

That's why the drone photos are either at a good
distance from the firefight (out of the zone), or
after the planes have gone.

My son has a drone. He got an award from his county
doing photography of flood damages for county
response. They can be very useful when used
responsibly.

Ohhh yeah, forgot about the copters. Makes sense though maybe from a distance it would be nice to see what's going on.
