KPLCTV latest. Civic center filling up w/refugees, the coliseum being prepared for overflow.

LA sending aid to flooded Port Arthur. TX can't get in from the west to get people out, so we're coordinating w/TX. Will be bringing people here to LC and on up to Alexandria (mid LA) & Shreveport (N LA).
I hope the rescuers won't be fired upon by looters, as has happened in Houston and here in Lake Charles.

Now there's another system forming in the Gulf.

No rain or wind here at the moment. Haven't had rain since last night. But looks like we'll be having some rain coming in shortly. Low-lying areas of LC flooded. I'm high and about as 'dry' as can be--not flooded, standing water puddles.

I-10 closed at the border. Under water.

United-Houston & some DFW flights coming in to LC Regional.

Weekend company from Austin may or may not be able to get here.

I hope your area keeps on draining! I heard the Cajun Navy couldn't get in to Port Arthur due to strong currents. They knew 2 days ago they were going to need some heavy boat action - why was nothing done ahead?

Do you still have power in your location? Many don't have power or cell phones or a boat. Here's hoping they deploy the sturdiest and most manageable vehicles for search and rescue. Take Care- :) Let us know what is happening if things change for you. We can always try to bug someone to get help. How are you doing TODAY?

Today SF closed down most of the Russian embassy staff there due to Russia closing down our embassies in Russian over the sanctions we imposed upon them. I don't know who's zooming whom at this point but this Saturday Night Fight between Russia and the U.S. is getting ridiculous. By any stretch of the imagination, IF it turns out that a Russian mil group literally seeded Harvey on Aug. 21, there is going to be more drama between our countries. Allegedly Putin did not know about this experiment for seeding rain in Cuba, hmmm, even though there was some strong discussion between different gov groups as to it's possible effects before they engaged in the aerojet 'cartridge' drops that were supposed to be very well controlled (unlike prior geoengineering experiments). Why would anyone do geoengineering in hurricane season? I think they knew the danger and that this storm was targeted to take out the Texas oil boys. Now we have a chemical explosion near a town close to Houston that may get worse by end of week. What more could go wrong? If we see more coastal events on all sides of the U.S. my suspicions will be raised by x10!

I guess this disaster won't be over until it's over, i.e., all the water is drained out and the toll taken on people and landscape accounted. It's going to be months before people are barely functional, sigh.

Thanks, Polydactyl. Apologize for not responding sooner.
We never lost power, fortunately.
I've been dropping bits of Mosquito Dunks in every little bit of standing water that I can find.

I'm sure the Cajun Navy was using whatever boats they had. That's what they do, just as anyone else does. They didn't know what they were going to be up against, but went anyway.

With Beaumont's water system down and no drinking water available, that's going to be a collosal problem. A hospital had to evacuate by air because a pump went out.

My ex lives in Beaumont. His electric went out, he went to a friend's house that began to get water, they then went to another place from which they had to evacuate. Then another place. My younger son is expecting his father sometime or other to get to Austin. (He's home from work cleaning house! heh!) A step-daughter has gone in and fetched him in a truck and they are on their way out now. Slow traffic in flooded roads. Son said they might make it to Kingswood and pause there, or go on to Austin if the traffic isn't too bad.
The man leads a charmed life.

I truly believe that storm was messed with.
