this was part of the sermon on the mount

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the
prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

so, we should read the OT and the NT in order to
understand "God's plan"

what part of that statement did you not understand?

have you read "the law"?

have you read "the prophets"?

he says he will fulfil

it might behoove some of you to read what the prophets
have to say about our times

heaven help us that any of you wake up

Reading on…

Matthew 5:38-48
New International Version
Eye for Eye

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[a]
39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the
right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to
sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone
forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who
asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from
you.

Love for Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[b] and hate your
enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He
causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the
righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what
reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if
you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do
not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly
Father is perfect.

Yes, I’ve read both Old and New Testament. Jesus was the fulfillment of
love. And He brought a new understanding into the world.

..."an eye for an eye" is a common human reaction,
usually practiced "ten fold" for maximum effect.

The art of "love" is more of a life destination and
tends to be much less understood because of its
simplicity and truth...

...it's also the only sane way out of the mess this
world currently finds itself in.

Our choice.

Yes. Love is the only way. Very difficult at times, but it's the only way. I've felt Jesus spiritually when I was baptised, but the human side of me is looking for that human hug, too. The man was all about love and forgiveness.

The man was all about love and forgiveness...

...apparently Christ was a hard act to follow.

Imagine being falsely accused, forgiving your accusers,
and allowing yourself to be crucified to prove your love
for "all" mankind.

Now that's making a positive statement about what the
gift of "life" is really all about.

Funny, my mother never mentioned that obligation to me
at any time in her life let alone when I was nursing.

I don't recall Christ calling out for revenge for the
shortcomings of others.

Quite the opposite in fact.

He did mention something about being the "light" and
the "way".

Did he call for his "followers" to avenge his impending
crucifixion or did or did he forgive his "murderers"
for they knew not what they did?

In as much as our current world is about to destroy
God's creation in what we lovingly refer to as World
War three, this is probably a good time to come to
terms with what Christ was really trying to manifest on
this planet.

Pretty sure revenge killing wasn't at the top of his
recommendations for eternal life.

pick and choose the parts YOU LIKE and to hell with the
rest ... bad timing ... tell us what Zechariah says will
happen ... tell us what Isaiah says will happen ... most
of us are doomed to oblivion by those accounts ... what
about that applesauce? hmm?

Actually you are picking and choosing, to give yourself permission for
hate and revenge. Just like the Pharisees of Jesus’ day. They rejected
Jesus. They were unwilling to let go of vengeful scriptures and ways. And
they turned Jesus over to Rome to be killed so His death would not be
literally by their own hands.

Jesus taught that the old scriptures were to be lived in a new light
because love was the greatest command overriding all others. You can go
back to the Old Testament as many times as you like. That does not
change what Jesus commanded of us. To love. Not to revenge. To love. I’m
really sorry you do not know that. My hope is that someday you truly will.

turn the cheek, but when they murder and rape and abduct
our children we are allowed by law to hunt them down and
kill them ... you do understand this, right ... that's
the law handed down from the LORD to Moses ... we get
this with our mother's milk ... what happened to you?

Jesus was the complete fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Then
Jesus brought the new commandments, which changed those laws into
commands of love. It is the deeper step into spirituality that Jesus guided
but which I guess you are not ready for. As you have no concept. But I will
continue to pray that for you in your journey.

Matthew 18:6 (NKJV)

"But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

That still doesn't negate the fact that vengeance is up to God Himself - not us.

Ephesians 4:32 ESV
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, as God in Christ forgave you.

What does your heart say, revenge or forgiveness?
