Every first part of the year, in preparation for Resurrection Day, I read one of the gospels. This year it has been Luke.
I was really impressed this year by the part in Luke 9 where James and John asked Jesus if he wanted them to call down fire from heaven to destroy the people who did not receive them. Jesus rebuked them by advising that James and John did not know of what kind of spirit they were of.
We need to be really careful about things like that. Seeking destruction upon anyone we don't agree with. Jesus was in effect saying in that passage to look at ourselves. Are we faultless?
No, we should not heap punishment on people who have the unhappy situation of of not identifying with the gender they were born with.
I have never walked inside their shoes. Have never had any desire to change my gender to male - despite not being a traditionally feminine female, more of a down-to-earth tomboy sort. And so....I can't walk inside their shoes.
But I do know from Jesus' reaction in Luke 9 that we need to be really careful of seeking punishment upon people who we may not understand or agree with.
We are best asking God to shine the light upon us and seeking to weed our own gardens.
Nobody is forcing these things upon trans folks. So whether we agree or not - we need to "keep our hands to ourselves".
Good God, I get fed up with this kind of stuff. The other day read an article about people want to ban vacation bible schools. Can we all just leave each other alone? All keep our hands to ourselves?

Thank You Cinnamon. I agree completely.
As I mentioned, the fruits of such hateful policies are
evident in the Nazi regime and others.
As Red mentioned in a post some time back, the American
Indians allowed trans gender persons to live their lives
in their chosen identity without judgement.
This is not a new phenomena. Rather, it is something
that has been humanity from the beginning
