On the morning of September 24, 1863, the citizens of the City of New York woke up to see something in the city's harbor that had never been seen there before. Anchored in the great harbor was a fleet of Imperial Russian war ships. America was at war. Not with Russia, but with itself. It was a dark period for the young nation. The Union of the North had just suffered a devastating, and demoralizing defeat at Chickamauga. The battle was the worst Union defeat in the entire war, and ranked second-highest in number of casualties after the Battle of Gettysburg. The increasing prospect of an ultimate Confederate victory in the war, and the real possibility of an imminent attack from Britain and France in support of the southern rebellion left America vulnerable, and without allies. President Lincoln and his young nation were alone, and surrounded by enemies. America had one friend...

Joie De Vie 2 weeks ago This is a great example of why it is so important to know our actual history and not simplistic renditions that stereotype or exclude important truths. Russia and the United States had a great relationship in the 18th and 19th centuries from Catherine the Great's refusal to assist Great Britain during the American Revolution to the US's sympathy with Russia during the Crimean War, which occurred within the decade of our own Civil War. There are Russian Sailors buried on Mare Island at the Naval Cemetery north of San Francisco who died helping to put our a major fire in the city during their US Civil War visit. Based on that friendship, Seward negotiated Alaska's purchase! It is important to know the truth of our past so we can have faith in our future. We are not destined always to be at odds with Russia. And then there is the old Russian proverb: Дурака́ учи́ть -- что горбатого лечить!
IMO much of what is happening now in terms of end times prophecy is because Kyiv is central to the beginnings of the viking style man made Russian Orthodox organization, all the other branches like Greek, RCC and the protestant are branches of this divided against itself tree.
Putin "revived" the Russian Orthodox organization in Russia so in that sense it's his calling and he's the son who shall force compliance, marry him or else crusade. Final chapter of wandering the deserts of spiritual Egypt = red wedding = the sea of blood.
Putin has built the grandest military church (image above) of all to his spiritual mother who is a lot like another model make-over of such as Athena(Greek), Minerva (Roman) and Frigg, Freyain (Norse)....I see now why in my first dream of Putin was reflected his love of military. Athena resonates as does Apollyon because of what was seeded at the Chernobyl "plant" (ie. wormwood) = the mother of all bombs nations.

(RNS) — Is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a religious crusade?
“I think the president of Russian Federation is making it a religious war,” Archbishop Daniel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the U.S. told an interviewer for Religion News Service last week. That view is shared by John Schindler, a retired U.S. intelligence officer and historian with expertise in Eastern Europe, who argues that it was the establishment of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine separate from the Moscow patriarchate in 2019 that caused Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade.
The argument goes basically like this. Putin has wrapped his ambition to restore the Russian empire in a revived Russian Orthodox Church, long stifled by Communist hostility to religion. He considers Ukraine to be Russian heartland, spiritually as well as territorially.

The history of Christianity in Ukraine dates back to the earliest centuries of the history of Christianity, to the Apostolic Age, with mission trips along the Black Sea and a legend of Saint Andrew even ascending the hills of Kyiv. The first Christian community on territory of modern Ukraine is documented as early as the 9th century with establishment of the Metropolitanate of Gothia centered in Crimean peninsula. However, on territory of the Old Rus in Kyiv it became the dominant religion since its official acceptance in 988 by Vladimir the Great (Volodymyr the Great), who brought it from Byzantine Crimea and installed it as the state religion of medieval Kyivan Rus (Ruthenia), with the metropolitan see in Kyiv.
Although separated into various Christian denominations, most Ukrainian Christians share a common faith based on Eastern Christianity. This tradition is represented in Ukraine by the Byzantine Rite, the Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic churches, which have been at various historic times closely aligned with Ukrainian national self-identity and Byzantine culture.

Cathedral of the Armed Forces blends militarism, patriotism and Orthodox Christianity to controversial effect
Angels hover above artillery, religious images are adorned with Kalashnikovs and the Virgin Mary strikes a pose reminiscent of a Soviet second world war poster. The imagery inside Russia’s vast Cathedral of the Armed Forces blends militarism, patriotism and Orthodox Christianity to breathtaking and highly controversial effect.
An hour’s drive from Moscow, the cathedral has a metallic, khaki-green exterior, topped with golden domes and crosses that rise to 95 metres (312ft). Inside is the largest amount of mosaic of any church in the world, with many of the work depicting battles from Russian history and the second world war in particular.

If you are relying on wiki to give info on Russian religious history, (or most anything political anywhere)that would be a mistake since they leave allot of real history out and is often a Narrative/propaganda of what the real info is.
I see the west politics and banking systems of US and the world engaging -especially EU to wanting a full blown war to destroy not only Russia but any and all people's standing in their way for winner takes all resources/power in the guise of democracy. The old world is still kicking and shoveling BS and want their own way - no matter who gets killed of the "lower peoples" who do not matter to them. Also I see THem trying to wage a proxy war thru nazi methods and ideologies that benefit themselves and may at same time fulfill so called prophecies of the book of Revelations. I found it interesting that when Russia built this Cathedral they used all the Nazi medals they could find and melted them and put them inside the floor. Signifying a trampling underfoot of all the evil endeavors, murders of those trying to wipe out not only Jews but those who took their religion honestly no matter what color they are. Fulfilling end time prophecies comes too easily for the war mongers of any race or religion. I also see that the West/CIA/MIC is so heavily involved with destroying nations for their own "national interests" it is truly sickening and beyond the pale of any decency why anyone would or could believe the propaganda flying like excrement over the entire planet.

I am not relying on wiki it can be used as a reference that leads to other sources for verification there are embedded links one can check for themselves. I see it as prophetical and they are all doing the will of a dark spiritual force...all of them are corrupted imo. Any killing is wrong and I stand by that moral principal and will not be moved.

No, Russia did not save the American Republic during the Civil War. Hundreds of Thousands of Union soldiers both white and black died to crush the slave holders'uprising but the Russians actually saved us???? How many Confederate ships did they sink? Zero. There was no way the Confederates could have taken California. Anyway, we paid them back for the little they did by buying Alaska which the Russians were losing money on. Favor returned.
What Putin is doing now smacks of genocide: civilians being massacred, cities being indiscriminately shelled, millions of refugees on the run. He may be the world's richest man by stealing from his country. He murders dissidents and allies with evil dictators like Kim of North Korea and poisons innocent British citizens in their own country.
We owe Putin no consideration. Kievan Rus was the first Russia and was a great culture when Moscow was a cow pasture.

Joe, this is the history of pre USSR. I made that quite clear. Did you look at the video and hear/see anything about Putin? or did you hear/see anything in support of Putin by the video? Obviously not since this is what you just wrote: "We owe Putin no consideration. Kievan Rus was the first Russia and was a great culture when Moscow was a cow pasture."

And since the daughter of the last byzantine emperor fled from Byzantium to Kiev and Kiev handed off to Moskva, Moskva is the third Rome. Russian kids learn history.
Putin has visited the Vatican six times, more than almost any other political leader. He met with Pope Benedict XVI in 2007 and with Pope John Paul II in 2000, and 2003.

This is an interesting factoid from our past, about which I have not watched the YouTube you provided...because it doesn't matter to me at all. Whatever they might've done that served our interests in the past, it can't even begin to approach relevancy in light of our Now, IMHO. And for me it begs the question, if you feel to answer, why exactly are you pointing this up?
Repeating part of my comment here from a post I just did on National, article titled "How white supremacy fuels the love affair with Vladimir Putin":
"You can track & point up all the various versions/interpretations of all the historical cause & effect scenarios between Russia & any other country, leading up to this act by him...but IMHO, the real cause of whatever GOP support for Putin is that: Hey! At least they're WHITE! And they hate brown/black people, those of any other religion but ours, all that progressive nonsense like accepting LGBTQ! They're our spiritual kin! You bet, we'll add our exclusivistic violence to theirs, and praise Jesus, the world will be saved... (^..^ cat gagging)"
I am not accusing/projecting upon you that this is your quiet orientation, as well, Pamela; simply asking how/why exactly it is, that you feel this incident from our past should somehow weigh into any kind of considerations with the genocide Putin's inflicting in our Now...?

I love studying history. And I've been learning more and more the history of Russia for some years now. If you will notice I've been studying the Tartarian history and been posting quite a bit on WOWs forum. But since your statement, he's a racist and hates blacks and browns, Lol, that is really out there. Better to ask those who support white supremacy/nazi's.
Putin supports Muslims and has had a hand in quite allot of building Mosques in RUssia. https://www.muslim.ru/en/articles/137/13878/ Another article showing Putin's support of Islam in the world and in Russia: https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2019/11/22/islam-and- orthodox-christianity-have-the-same-values-putin-says- a68279
and heres a link showing pics of Mosques in Russia: https://theculturetrip.com/europe/russia/articles/the- most-beautiful-mosques-in-russia/ I found out not too long ago part of my heritage is from E Europe/Belarus. My dil is from Moldova. My former dil Mexican/Mayan.

Could it be any more clear how hairtrigger I am around any support being given Putin for his current barbarism? ;-O
Pamela, I don't disrespect history; I love it myself, especially excavating so much that's been disappeared to us, in our time, and I always enjoy what you post along these lines on your own search... Calling it "irrelevant" was solely in the context of this instance, meaning that to me, whatever happened in the past w/Russia, nothing found there could possibly justify what he's doing... (And BTW, IMHO, nothing finally discovered within any angle of disappeared history will ever justify further violence, either...)
So if you posted these more-positive Russian-history tidbits without any intention of it meant as support or justification for his current atrocities, then I'll receive this as a solid reality check on my passion leaping ahead of me, thank you for it and sincerely apologize again for that projection... ;(
Having expressed both those things...and while also acknowledging many blindspots in my grasp of Russian history (Putin having built Islamic & Muslim mosques being one of them, which I'm sure had everything to do with gaining imagined leverage/goodwill, rather than genuine humanitarian acttion based on sincere desire to serve his people's religious diversity)...any claim that *the man himself, who he is, in his psychosis* is not full-bore racist against black and brown folks, & is not entirely coldblooded toward any human being not eager & willing to serve the illusions of ultimate superiority he needs to prove, in this genocide he's instigated, is simply in denial of what's taking place... He is a child of God, yes indeed, and I love him as I love all God's children and want nothing more than his healing, if that can even be done in this life, and if someone doesn't blast him off the planet...but first, he needs to be taken out of any capacity of authority...
And this gentle reminder: I did say in my post that I was not accusing you of holding the values I described christian conservatives proudly sporting, who so flagrantly support Putin for the reasons they do... ;) I asked for clarification, which you've offered, and I thank you for it... ;)
Okay, thanks. And leave you with this link for more investigation. I'm gonna read it over the week-end.

...I may be coming across like a hairtrigger confrontation machine with legs... ;( ... I apologize for that... ;( I'm just really trying to understand your thinking, and perhaps that of others who find it within themselves to support Putin in this action -- aside from those who'd identify with my description of (mostly) Trumpist GOP rightwing conservatives, with race/ethnicity/religion being what fuels it...
Or, wait...hmm...to clarify, for me this is all about Putin, the man -- *not* the Russian people...if that differentiation might be factoring in here... ;)
